My fellow Americans; Let's Roll!

Whalom Park is being demolished, unfortunately. The "Save Whalom Park" coalition tried their best to keep it from happening, but the park is doomed. SFNE pretty much killed it. I've heard tell where the great classic amusement park stands, will soon be another bland condominium complex. I only hope that the same fate doesn't befall Canobie Lake. That would be even more tragic.
If you couldn't tell from my down-hearted tone, I'm a native of Massachusetts who fondly remembers many childhood visits to Whalom Park.

I have to disagree with the comment about SFNE killing Whalom... to an certain extent, anyway. I think that Whalom kind of killed itself by not moving forward when practically every other area park did so during the past decade or so. Before it was Six Flags, Riverside added tons of new coasters and modern attractions. Canobie Lake has been doing the same, albeit at a slower pace and in a manner that better suits the park). And Lake Compounce has added many new rides in recent years, like the rapids ride and Boulder Dash..
Of course Six Flags "helped" Whalom close, but I think that it was just one of the many nails in the coffin. Whalom was either the hammer that did the nailing, or was one of the nails itself. I feel bad for the Bowen family who has been trying so hard to do something so right.
