Regarding the video game consoles, I skipped PS2 because frankly there was nothing out for it that really stood out. Combine that with the fact that I haven't seen a good review for any of the basketball games and I'll pass.

X-Box has a lot of neat stuff in the pipe. For right now, DOA3 is eye candy, but just another button mashing fighter (not a fan of the genre). Halo is what a first-person shooter should be. I put it above Max Payne and even Half-Life. Project Gotham Racing is a very fun and beautiful racer. My biggest draw was Munch's Oddysee. It is, without question, the best platformer I've ever played. The art direction alone deserves some kind of award. It's clever and challenging without being too cute. The environments are lush and submersive.

People are saying Gamecube is younger oriented, but I don't really buy into that theory. I bought it mostly because I love Wave Race and there are new Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong and Starfox titles in the pipe. For now, Wave Race rules, Luigi's Mansion is cute and Rogue Squadron has the best Death Star trench flying I've seen in a Star Wars game. GregLeg is still raving about Monkeyball as a party game. Just add alcohol.

From a hardware standpoint, X-Box is tops. So far in software, it's a toss up. The whole nonsense about DVD doesn't matter to me. I have a DVD player, and I'm not interested in playing DVD's on a game console.

I want an X-Box.  You are free to buy me an X-Box.  Or send me donations towards one.

kthxbye

Get 4 people, a GameCube, 4 controllers, and a copy of Super Monkey Ball and your evening will be shot. I spent nearly 3 hours playing this deceptive little game. When I saw the box, I thought "what the heck is this?". The game is VERY addicting and the various multi-player modes are a blast. Leave it to Sega to make a whacked-out game like this that's amazingly fun to play.

(one of the 2 or 3 people who actually shelled out $80 for a pair of maraca controllers on the Sega Dreamcast)

Man, screw X-Box and GC. It's all about PS2. When I went to kmart to try them out i couldn't decide now i have gone on www.epinions.com read a lot of reviews listed my points of what was good and bad on each system and figured out PS2 is the best. I am considering Gamecube but i really want DVD. And it has better launch games than was previously said in gaming mags. But its PS2 that i want. Only $108 to go. Jeff, how can you spend $500+ on video games and still run an extremely expensive site?

Dreamcast = 49$... Dreamcast w/ 3 sports games = 59$

Nuff' said.
You can all thank Sega for making games for all of your systems because you know without Sega the video game world just isn't complete.

More Screamin' Serpent kits!

I must say that Super Monkey Ball is one addictive title. I've had loads of fun playing those mini-games, especially Monkey Fight. Just have to finish unlocking the rest. Does anyone else think that the expert mode is nearly impossible?

Progray: I'm actually another one who purchased those! I also got 3 other people to purchase 2 sets each after playing with mine!

My Top steel: Millennium Force, Magnum XL-200, Raging Bull, Desperado, Speed the Ride. Wood: Viper, American Eagle, Twister II, Zeus, Cyclops.
Its amazing how much all of a sudden peopl are acting like Sega Games are god games, now that they are on other systems. Nobody EVER praised the titles sega released on Dreamcast, even though they were some of the best games EVER made.

Samba De Amigo... 'nuff said. [Only with Maracas, of course]

A park enthusiast girlfriend! :) I'm already up to my ears in Legos, model trains, and KNEX! :)

Heck, I just stick with computer games.  All I need now is a Microsoft Sidewinder game pad for my sports games and I'm golden.

Just wait till next year!

I'll take a nice Lionel set for under the tree. I need a break from the HO and N I currently mess with.

Maybe a kiddie whip for the rec room :)

everything's better with a banjo

Millrace, I think we're the only two railfans on here! And we model the same scales! I usually put my Lionel under the tree, but other than that it lives in a box the rest of the year. You can still find a decent priced starter (like the New York Central Flyer) for about $160.......but if I were you I'd go for an MTH set (Mike's Train House out of Maryland)! Awesome products at a better price.
