What do your GP friends think of you?

My friends say im a geek and ignore me when i spout off stats, except when I go to parks with them, then they always ask me for the degree of a drop, the manufaturer of a line, why don't they build a coaster with a 1500 ft. drop. (someone really asked me that and I said, 'cause then you would die.)

Craig, yes there are advantages to being a geek.  Perhaps you could try out for the show, but nobody would ever pick you.  They always go for the easy out and pick the movie geek, myself included.

My friends get mad at me when I do that, but I do it anyways.  They think it is weird that I spend my time looking up coasters and learning more about them.  And they think I am pathetic for knowing stats about coasters that they have never even heard of.  But hey, I always say whatever floats your boat, and I guess coasters float mine, so whatever floats their boat I will be fine with.  I am glad that "coaster loving" isn't so popular, becuase if everybody loved coasters, imagine the wait in line, it would last forever. The parks would be too crowded.

For me, people just sorta look at me funny and ask... 1. You know way to much.  2. How do you ride so much and not get sick.

My friends pretty much enjoy it.  I come up with things to pass the time in lines.  They also let me lead them around and make sure that they get the most out of the day as I help them as much as I can!
They think I am a complete freak. If they name a state then I can rattle off a bunch of coasters in that state, tell who made them, and nearly all the stats. Then then say things like "man, that's sad" and stuff like that.
My parents get annoyed by my coaster talk. Especially my dad, LoL......he doesn't know one thing about a coaster. It is funny because, for example, he cannot get the names right! He calls the Wildcat at Cedar Point the "Scat" Cat for some odd reason! I'm like geesh!

Well, they really get annoyed after i can tell them any and everything aboot a coaster, who built it, what they have done to it, what year ect......

Yea, you got it this is the infamous Token from the worlds greatest, KPU.
My friends have accepted that I love coasters to excess, and they especially like it when I get them into Cedar Point for CoasterMania for less than the normal entry fee and extra hours in the park. :) While at the park, they'll ask me questions about the rides' stats.

They usally cant stand me or I cant stand them. They tell me all these "Facts" about coasters like Nitro is the tallest in the world and they dont like it because "it doesnt have loops". I know what rides are good / bad and when they want to wait 1/2 an hour for a dumb flat ride i usually act like it hurts reall bad and say trust me and we skip it. Oh yeah and my friends also put the in front of everything, the nitro, the medusa.

I know how annoying that is. I went on a school trip to Hershey once and a few people said that Great Bear is better than Lightning Racer because it "doesnt have loops". Ugh.

I know when i get started talking about coasters or watch a show about it my 17year old daughter thinks her mom is crazy! But she thinks also it's cool that her mom can handle such thinks as riding a roller coasters I enjoy the fact i can too rattle off about them

"Lookout" it's NITROGIRL!!!

I consider myself a 25 year vet of the general public. I'm not no "enthusiast" or "rail jockey" or whatever ya want to call it. I just ride roller coasters to have fun. However, my knowledge about the darn things is far greater than any of my friends. Actually my mom knows more about coasters then any friend. I've even trained her to recognize different manufacturers and elements of rides. Basically around my parts, I'm just the guy you ask when you want to know something about a ride.

Now, the only thing that burns my tail is when people say the are going or went to "Six Flags". Yeah, ok, which one?

LONG LIVE ARROW DYNAMICS!!

They think I'm nuts.  Revolutionary, I can relate.  My brother and I have taught our mom some things about coasters, and she can name some elements and types of coasters.  My girlfriend thinks I'm crazy, but she tolerates me.  One thing that really bugs her, though, is when I say GP, because she is GP.  I bet I can change her, though, after we go to SFMM.  I try not and show off my knowledge of coasters around people, but if they start talking about them or ask me a question, I'll start going and it's hard to stop me.  Maybe I need therapy or something.

Most of my friends understand my passion. They've tagged along on a couple of trips. My co-workers however all have thought I was nuts, especially when I started reciting statistics for rides like MF, H:XLC etc.. Two of them however have accompanied me to two different parks (SFA & KW), and were blown away by how different and full of energy I was.

If you have to figure out how to ride a coaster to be comfortable, then that's not a coaster worth riding.
