What do you mean no Whizzerthon?

I was sent a piece of E-mail yesterday from Great America PR that said to come out and celebrate the Whizzer's last couple weeks of operation. Where is the Whizzerthon, a-la SFOG's Viperthon? In my opinion I think Great America cares very little about the enthusiast!

they don't need to care...there is no competition...
Ya they don't care about us.

In 4 Days My 100th Coaster will be HyperSonic XLC

Why do you need an official park-sponcered Whizzer-a-thon? Just get a bunch of friends, goto the park, and ride Whizzer all day.
At least they sent out an e-mail, it's more than they had to do, isn't it?

Big Bucks, No Whammies, and Stop.

Not to create a flame but... why would anyone expect any special treatment just because they are an enthusiast.

Ford does not give you any special treatment because you may like their automobiles better then the competitions.

Being an enthusiast is a personal thing, enjoy the ride, and expect nothing extra. Besides, these parks make most of their money off of what enthusiasts have described as the "General Public." Yes Coasterathons are cool, but not a requirement.

Try this, rather then being disapointed at not getting something you expected. Expect nothing and be gracious when events and other such enthusiast events do arise.

I am making the trip thursday from Detroit, so I can ride Whizzer one time before it dies...

If you go to Great America now they have a nice sign in place of the Whizzers sign that says. "Whizzer Bon Voyage, Thanks for the Memories!" Then it says "Ride it the Last Time, August 11th 2002!" So if you ask me they are promoting the last day for it so people can get there last rides on it.

Woa, ho ho! Just because i'm an enthusiast does not mean that I EXPECT anything from any park. I just meant that it would be nice. Wouldn't it?

Marky Mark..
I think almost everyone here got their "expectation" ideas from this statement...

Perhaps we all misunderstood you?

If anyone gets to go and you are able could you possibly take some pics or video for me? I will pay for the shiping please let me know if you are willing to do this for me

Aughhh look out there are Mice all around

It's nice enough that SFGAm is even telling us that they are removing Whizzer, they could just be hush hush about it.

I am proud to say my homepark has 3 B&M's, soon to be 4, hopefully.;)

Whizzer Boi i'm going tonight to kill some time. I have a digital camera and perhaps I could E-mail you some pics?

When will Breaking All The Rules come out on DVD?

At least they are thinking about keeping it in Illinois. On the news today they were talking about that.

Realisticly it isn't staying within a 100 miles of where it is now. It's ether going overseas or to some second teir american park. It would be nice for quite a few places but nothing an Illinois, Santa's and Kiddie land would leave the ride as bear a Shockwave, which would kill the entire ride.

I'm going to sound very ignorant and stupid now, so forgive me ahead of time.

Who said that the Whizzer was leaving the park? I've heard yes that it's closing on August 11 and yes it is going to be taken down but why could they not relocate it in the park? But then again it is a lot harder to relocate than Viper was at SFOG and the fact that they didn't relocate that somewhere is disturbing, okay I guess it's doomed. "Sniff Sniff"

La Vie Boheme!!!

Here's a theory. I think that in 2003 the whizzer might be moved to the area where power dive cajun cliffhanger and neworleans grill was. Or that space could be used for a new coaster besides the new b&m. Or that space could be used to put up a new section of flat rides.

Anyone know what happened to the skywhirl?

Unfortunately, Sky Whirl was recycled. It was cut into small pieces and hauled to a local steel recycling facility. I hope Sky Whirl and Whizzer don't share the same fate!!

In my opinion, the park would do just fine if every enthusiast was wiped off the face of the planet. Parks don't owe enthuisasts squat. Get over that attitude.

You know there is a word that is used for enthusiasts like that...most recently used on RRC towards the ACErs who went to SoCal Coaster Con. Don't be one on those, you give us all bad names.
