what coasters were the hype before 1999?

alpengeist, volcano, and flight of fear were big hype here in virginia.

All at once the ghosts come back reeling you in now.

For me i thought it was Medusa at Sixflags Great adventure becuase it was going to be somthing new called a floorless rollercoaster and since i dident have my own computer i wasent always abel to see updated info and hear the hyper so to speak.

S:TE was they main hype that I can remember. I remeber being in my school library and seeing a Boy's Life magazine about roller coasters and there was one whole page about S:TE.  In fact, I believe thats when I became an actual enthusiast!
