What coasters needs to be re-painted badly?

Why do some coasters (Mantis, B&R: The Chiller) need to be painted right away, while some others seem to keep the colors so much better?  Kumba looked pretty ragged before its paint job.  I know the sun is a major factor, but are the paints used pretty much all the same quality, or does each manufacturer/park use their own paint?  Just wondering...

Actually Airtime88.9, KONG just got a paint job this year. It looks hella better then last years colors.

I also have to say Rolling Thunder at SFGAdv.  It looks like it hasn't been open in 15 years.  The trains are really rickety too, but it adds something to the ride.  :)

Rolling Thunder needs a lot more than just a paint job.  How about some retracking and replacing some of the lumber.
i think viper at magic mountain needs it bad, i mean, viper's arent even red and white, most of em are green, i think viper would look awesome green and black, IMO

Yeah, it just looked like it was at it's worst (it also rode at it's worst I think...). The strange part is, when the Discovery Channel had "The World's Largest Amusement Park" on, they had some footage of Mantis when it was new and it was very nice looking, the colors were very deep and dark. It seems as though by next year, the blue will be teal, the yellow will be white, and red will be pink, lol.

kipp099 and Millennium Force, the Vortex's paint job is not finished.  The park was waiting for the weekend opertations to start back up so they can finish the coaster during the week.  The Vortex should look nice for their 30th anniversary.

A coaster that really needs a paint job is the Racer at PKI.  The paint on that coaster is peeling off.

When I was at SFMM about three weeks ago, I noticed that Viper was in the most immediate need for a paint job.  Also needing paint jobs though were Ninja and Revolution.
I think it's safe to say that the PKI Racer will get a paint job this off-season after Vortex is finished with it's new paint.  Certainly haven't heard anything official, but I think PKI will surprise everyone with the work they do this winter.  30 years, Paramount's flagship park, those thinking that TR:TR will be a disappointment are asleep at the switch.  I think the lapbars on FoF were kind of like the card you open before getting the big present...and I've got free Paramount passes for next year (what COULD be better, other than being less than 100 miles away)!  Removal of some of the trims on Beast's shed is probably too much to hope for, huh?

Thanks every one. I'm surprised no one mentioned collossus at sfmm. This really need's to be painted because if you look closely you can see only a small portion is painted- this because of the goliath commercial's that they shot. Which is kinda pathetic because your already up their you might as well finish the damn job.
any one else have a coaster that fits with this forum?
Actually, Kong  just received a fresh coat of paint during the off season. It looks alot better!

I heard that SFGAdv would paint a lot of their coasters on the off season.

Screamin' Eagle at SFStL, and Blue Streak at CP both could use a few coats...

Speaking of which, I could be mistaken, but I seem to remember a paint commercial (Sherwin-Williams, I think) from about ten years ago that featured Screamin' Eagle.  The commercial starts out with a tight close-up of a man painting some white wood, then gradually pulls out to reveal the man painting the structural supports on the swoop turn on Screamin' Eagle.  I could certainly bear watching commercials like that one.

Form the looks of the Screamin' Eagle, I'd say its probably been 10 years since its seen paint... They actually started to repaint the lift hill, but got about a quarter of the way up then just quit...
Just to point this out, Magnum will be painted next year and then Mantis the next (or Jeff was it the opposite?).  BS is also expected to have many of it's supports fixed and be painted sometime soon.

I'd like to see SFGAV take a yearr or two off from building major coasters and use the money to clean up their filthy park.  Rolling Thunder is an absolute disgrace and Batman is not much better.  When I rode Nitro it had only been opened for a month yet the queue area was already filled with gum and grafitti.  The whole park needs to be hosed down and sanitized
