What coaster/ride would you like to see rebuilt?

I just want to second "The Shy One" in rebuilding "The Big Bend" at SFOT. That was my first "big" coaster and I only got to ride it once. I remember several times sneaking off from my parents to get in line - only to be pulled out being told not to ever do that again. Man I wish that thing was rebuilt at SFStL - oh well, one day maybe.

Does anybody out there have any type of aerial picture showing the layout of Big Bend? I have seen several pictures of the ride, but none showing the course of the ride.

My "Bat Story" is quite similar to Mamoosh's. It was one year later, August of '84 and I was 12 years old. I had no idea what it was or what it did. I had never seen any kind of "inverted" coaster before, and by the looks of the track, I guessed that the ride must hang upside-down the whole way through! I figured bats hang upside down when they sleep, the track looked upside down... it made sence, to a 12 year old!
Nobody in the park that I asked (patrons, not employees) was able to describe what it did either. Most just said that "It was just crazy."

I actually have a non-employee Bat story that still makes me laugh. It was 1982, I was at my grad night, and I'd had a little too much to 3.2 beer (it was legal in Ohio to drink beer at 18 then). I was in the queue and the ride broke down. I had to visit the bathroom quite badly, but no one was moving. I hopped the queue and a nearby fence, and the next thing you know I am free. Well, sort of. I was underneath the station and was quickly being chased by a couple of ride ops. It's funny how they don't like drunk teenagers in the "bowels" of their beloved Bat. I escaped, straight to the Coney Mall bathrooms, and moved on. I did not ride The Bat that night. I do remember waking up in my hotel room, feeling like I hit my head on every single support on the helix of the Beast.

The summer of 1983 was rough on some KI employees, as we had to deal with guests who were not pleased with the SBNO Bat. In 1984 it was easier, as KI added King Cobra. A Stand-Up Looper was unheard of.

I am sick and tired of my uncle regaling me with the wonders of the Riverview Bobs- I want to ride that ride!!!!!!!

Also, I'd like to see the Rye Aeroplane coaster, one of Traver's "Safety" Cyclones, and Drachen Fire. Since I liked Shock Wave (not as much as other rides, but I still liked it), I'm sure I could put up with the head-banging and enjoy what looked like an awesome layout.

Oh, and as for Non-coasters rides... Give me back Sky Whirl, please!

I've got three.... Thunderbolt (Coney Island), King Cobra (yes after one season I do miss it), and The Bat.

I've always wanted to ride Thunderbolt and The Bat but was never able too. King Cobra was my favortite steel before it closed.

At last word, all plans for Ravine Flyer II are on hold. Various concerns (environmental, zoning, etc) have held things up. Not sure of the future of this project.

It is a shame that the government now has to get its tenticals into everything. I certainly hope that everything gets worked out, it would give me a real reason to go 'cross state to Erie.

I would love to see the Bobs at Riverview Park rebuilt. It looked like a great ride.
The Zambezi Zinger at Worlds of Fun! It was my first roller coaster I ever rode and I loved it. It was speedy, but not too speedy. It was PERFECT for young and old riders alike! And the LONG tunnel at the end was the most memorable experience on a roller coaster EVER! If you are hearing this Worlds of Fun, please please please rebuild the Zinger. Im getting teary eyed at the mention of it! *sniffle*

Ugh. Arrow + Hyper + Inversions = PAIN. No thanks, I'll pass on that one.

Drachen Fire rebuilt by B&M....

Actually, Drachen Fire was designed by B&M. B&M was too busy with ONE above-track sitdown that they handed the project to Arrow, which srewed it up. Some people say the corscrew after the MCBR was originally an in-line twist but Arrows can't manuever them.

My first thought was the Crystal Beach Cycone, but I would LOVE to see the Bat again. There are too many to mention. The old Jumbo Jet that was once at Cedar Point looked fun.

Heck, if you are going that far why not bring back a whole park! I would love to re-visit the Magic Harbor......a place I visited as a kid almost every summer when my family and I vacationed in Myrtle Beach, SC. Then you can bring back Galaxi and the old Corkscrew that used to be at the Pavilion down a few blocks on the Strand.

I was thinking earlier how I wish we still had the Steeplechase rides in America, and of course the Switchback Railways.

But for now I would just like to see the Thunderbolt Express at Camden Park come alive!

My story of The Bat:

In summer of 1983 my family visited my brother and his wife in Ann Arbor, MI. I had just graduated from high school [yeah, I'm old]. I had wanted to visit King's Island since seeing The Bat profiled on NBC's show "That's Incredible" and seeing news coverage of The Beast.

My dad and I left Ann Arbor at about 2am and drove to Cincinnati. We got to the park just after opening and headed right back to the Beast. I recall it being a fantastic ride and running fairly brake-free, except for the "shed."

Anyway, after The Beast we made our way back to The Bat because that was the ride I had really wanted to get on. But it was not to happen. The Bat had apparently closed for good a week before our visit and would never reopen. So all I could do was stand there and look at the coaster, sitting silent, imagining how the trains would swing on this curve or that curve.

Am I obsessed with The Bat? No, and I don't wish for it to be rebuilt. But for me it will always be the one that got away.

Moosh

Oh yeah, I barely remember that about the Bat. I used to watch that show all the time as a kid. What a ride too ahead of it's time....I managed to get one ride in 1982, when I was 10. I would love to see it rebuilt. Whatever happened to the track and trains by the way? Does anyone know?

What coasters do I want to see re-built?

How about all of them? The way I see it, if a coaster was torn down, I never got to ride it, so just re-build 'em all so I can ride 'em all!

Intelligence is a God given gift: Know how to use it.

It sure is great to remember KI like it was back in the day.I also went to a grad night. I think it was ' 83. Back then they sold beer, played music at the beast and was on a whole a much more enjoyable park. I got in about 3 rides in the Bat then but i remember it kept breaking down. Once when i was in line they even had to stop it so they could change the small wheels on the side. It was realy stressin' at this point.

B&M had nothing to do with the design of Drachen Fire, that was cleared up a year ago or something like that. It was just a rumour that was never confirmed.

I would like to see Drachen Fire rebuilt as I got to see it SBNO. It looked like a great layout and had some one of a kind inversions. Also the Crystal Beach Cyclone would be cool. The Puritas Springs Cyclone is at the top of my list. I live five minutes away from where the park once resided and the terrain that the coaster was on is excellent. Think the drop into the woods on Raven. The Euclid Beach Thriller and Flying Turns also come to mind.

The ride's not that painful if u keep your head against the headrest.

But if you are caught off guard and your head is not securely pressed against the head rest, your neck is thrown around like a rag doll. Very painful. Not most people's idea of fun.

Kind of hard to take a post as objective if a park or coaster name is part of the "user name"
