What causes this formatting problem??

Often my posts end up in an unreadable format, as seen below:

P>esting. JUS testing./P>
P> /P>
P>FON style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">Wondering if my post will work, then I'll probably DELEE I! :o/P>
P>FON style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff">1. Yessss!/P>

Then I have to edit it to make it presentable. What a pain in the butt! Is there a cause for this that can be avoided?

Apparently it's a bug in the WYSIWYG editor. Try using a browser other than Internet Explorer (or can you access the "classic" editor from IE? If you can, use that.).

Who is basically just guessing...but the problem never happened to me...and I use Netscape, Opera, and Lynx.

It only happens to me when I edit a post that I had linked a URL in using the formatting buttons. The original post appears fine, but when I edit it, the part before the link is missing and there is all sorts of html code where the link was. Everything after it is normal also.
It happens to me with explorer (not netscape). I juat click the "use plain post" note on the side and the problem is solved.

Yes, you can access the plain text editor in IE by clicking "use plain post" next to the post box.

The parsing problem is something I just haven't had time to really attack. I plan to totally rewrite the parsing engine when I've got a little extra time, which unfortunately is largely consumed right now with finding a job.

I'm not sure I understand the difference between "plain" post and "rich" post. They seem to work the same. Can you explain???

In plain text you don't get those fancy buttons above the post box. You can't make your text bold or italic and such.
Well, you can make posts bold + italic, etc.. using the "ubb-like" code... ie: [ bold] put text here [ /bold] or [ italic] put text here [ /italic] (w/o the spaces of course..)

But yea, one of those minor annoying bugs that will hopefully be worked out eventually
