What are your feelings on Flashback?

Tom Servo: were you at MM on Sun? I was as well.

I got to ride Flashback (my first solo) on Sun. It was not very exciting at all, but I didn't find it that rough. There was the spot that Tom Servo mentioned that really gives you huge slam, but if you're bracing, most of the ride isn't too bad. On the other hand, there isn't too much redeeming about it in the first place.

Summary: Glad to get the credit, not much else.

You must be this dumb to ride Viper. -SFGAdv.

In terms of roughness, Psychlone, Viper and Revolution were worse than Flashback when I rode them in 1999.
Flashback is nothing spectacular, it's just another ride. The hairpin drops obviously didn't turn out to be much of an exciting idea, so no other coasters were built in the same layout anywhere.
There are some places in which the ride whips you around... especially when you're not sitting somewhere in the middle of the train for which the speed, banking and the forces are designed.
And of course, it already looked ready for a paint job when I rode it in 1999, but I didn' t hate it as much as Psychlone, that's for sure.
If you haven't ridden it yet, you haven't missed much.
It might have gotten worse since.

My feeling on Flashback, usually range from "weee!" to "holy OW". Though I always ride it, never complain about it...too much. It's an aquired taste, like whiskey dry, you just have to know what to expect.

Is it a dream or a memory? It's both, it's X

Good gravy, so many Flashback lovers here! Whether when it was "new" at Great America or old and rusted at Magic Mountain, I just think that ride sucks. A unique concept for a coaster, yes. A fun ride that you just "gotta do again", NO. I think it's horrible...and I cannot blame age or neglect for it being bad, I just think it has always been bad.

Personally, it never being open at Magic Mountain is fine by me...because I simply walk right by it either way.

I do agree with others, however, that they should at least make an attempt to maintain the thing if they are not going to take it down...amazes me sometimes how Six Flags sees fit to tear down "maintenance nightmares" like Sky Whirl (and the sky rides at all of their parks) but somehow find it rational to keep rides like Flashback standing there in the state it is in (and run in only once in a blue moon). But, oh well, such is life. I'd still like to see the original Tidal Wave "somewhere" at Great America, but looks like Kentucky is going to get that fun!

Anyways, as I have mentioned in other threads, I just don't get Z-Force/Flashback and I never will. Neat concept, poor execution.

I rode it in 1997 and loved it! However, standards of smoothness were lower in those days so maybe I wouldn't like it as much now. Hopefully, it hasn't got any rougher.

If they could smooth it out, or if someone could build an updated version of the concept, I think they would have a real winner on their hands. It's just such a great idea for a ride, and a compact one, which would be useful for a lot of parks.

Yeah if they could build a newer version say a floorless version those little drops would take on a whole new meaningf

It isn't so bad. . .
Once you're used to it

I stand by what was in the video... "Goliath or flashback?"

"FLASHBACK!!!!!"

--Robb "Goliath isn't that bad when you compare it to....oh, wait...yeah it is that bad...." Alvey

I just think it looks cool. Ive never been on it but if they ever decide to demolish it, they should give me a call. Id gladly buy it, bronze it, and keep it in my backyard as a trophy. But I might not be able to keep it there without getting a really big need to ride it....so ill make it operational and you all can come to my house and ride it. Ill use the Six Flags/Disney method: Let you ride free, but sell concessions at $20 for a soda!
Flashback is a rough ride but just keep your head back, hold on and grit your teeth till the end, you should be fine...Oh, and dont wear ANY ear jewelry... It can be slightly painful
