What are the advantages of 1-train operation

Honestly, I don't think ride ops/attendants have any trouble with two train operation or anything more than one train operation. It's the maintenance department is the one that would have more problems with it. I've seen occasions where I've asked the ride ops about the one train operation on coasters and they seemed very concerned about adding another train, but their request from maintenance was rejected! Sometimes the one train operation is just unavoidable due to several issues though such as wet weather causing the braking to be a problem or some issues with the train's safety/ability to run.
Worse than 1-train ops is when there are 2 trains on the tracks but the they are only allowing riders onto one of them. Parks have to do a lot before I gripe, but that usually just about does it. Call it a pet peeve.

Prabe - This occurred to me when S:RoS SFNE had its accident a couple years ago. The second train was still in need of testing and they said they were testing it nights, but it sat idle on the transfer track during the day. I posted a TR and people started asking why they don't test it during the day in between runs of the old train.

You just answered the question. *** Edited 1/7/2004 6:41:38 AM UTC by ApolloAndy***

Funny you should mention that...

The worst offender for this of the parks that I have visited is SFA. It is common during the week for there to be two trains running on Wild One, Joker's Jinx, & Roar with passengers only being loaded onto one.

I hear you Prabe, several times during the 03 season I've gone to SFA only to encounter two trains running on WO & S:ROS but loading only one...what's with that any how?

With WO I can understand it because they cannot put trains on the storage track due to the transfer section not lining up with the trains or something like that but on S:ROS or Roar there's no real excuse for it.

What's worse is on time I went over to WO to ride only to find 2 trains in the station & no ops! apperantly there was no break down because maintenaance was nowhere to be seen & I leaarned that the ops hadn't reported for work yet & it was already 4 pm by that time & the ride hadn't even opened for the day yet.

Let's hope we're not treated to a repeat performance this season.

I was thinking about the same thing.

Christmas Eve at Universal, they had one train on Fire, and two on Ice, but only loading one. The ride op claimed that loading the second train would make the wait longer than just sending it empty. The wait time was over an hour as it was. How much worse could it be? The park wasn't nearly as crowded as it was the few days after Christmas.
