Are we that hard up for Topics that we have to bring up one from a couple of years ago?????????

Oh please! Having been here for quite a while, I can tell you that many topics keep coming up over and over. It's not a big deal and sometimes it is fun to dust off old ones.

If you are so hard up for new topics, start one. ;)

I love this kind of stuff. There's something really creepy about a park that's rotting away and left intact when there used to be so much life and excitement there.

Back in my teen years, friends and I would sneak into the the old Mountain Park site in Holyoke, Mass. It was kind of a side trip on alpine slide trips since it was right next to the new defunct Mt. Tom ski area. It was super dangerous, but was creepy and fun with all the old dark rides there. Not sure what's left of that now if anything.

Cropsey, you can check out info on Mountain park at a few places:

Hope these help you relive some old memories.

Seeing pictures of abandoned parks always takes me back (waaaaay back) to Walled Lake Park in Michigan. It's where I rode my first roller coaster (and where my parents used to go on dates in the late 1940's, early 1950's).

The John Miller wooden coaster was built alongside the road and I remember how sad I felt whenever driving by after the park closed and seeing the lonely wooden structure slowly falling into disrepair. It was even more eerie at night because it looked so ghostly...a far cry from how bright it looked when lit up at night when the park was open.

Thanks very much for those links Tom, that was great!

^^Hmmm....your parents went on dates there? Did it ever occur to you that you might have *originated* there? ;)
