What a difference a new box makes

You may recall back when RCT was first coming out that I made a comment about minimum specs for RCT2. Jeff countered with the suggestion that I think about upgrading. Well the upgrade occured this week. After installing RCT2 and taking it for a test drive, I was surprised to see my peeps almost running around the park, the carousel rotating so fast it looked like a high speed spin ride, and other signs of great performace, including all those annoying "Loading" screens just zipping by in a matter of milliseconds.

I think I've gone from RCT2 being sluggish, to RCT2 being hyperspeed.

Oh, and Detto Intellimover will offer to move RCT save game files when it creates your profile.

(BTW: config = P4, 2.4Ghz, 512RAM, 128ram on the video card, surround sound (Hmm, may have to create a Bobsled ride of doom to hear a coaster crash in surround))

Believing is seeing.

Yeah, more than anything, memory is the key.

I had a GF4, P4 1.8 ghz, with 256 megs of RAM, and the loading bars would be incredibly slow. They're so frequent as to be annoying.

I recently added another 256 megs of RAM, and the loading bars fly now (relatively speaking, though).

I found it odd that, despite the nice card and processor, it was basically the memory that was slowing down the game (and a memory upgrade is the cheapest you can have.)

I think I need a new computer because for RCT2 to load on my computer it takes me about 5 mins, no joke, and then sometimes even fails and minimizes down into a bar and disappears.
