What a day! CP 5-27

I'll keep this short. Third trip to CP, average crowd and a beautiful day. My first trip on Wicked Twister. I'm a new man. 20 minute wait at 10am, they push you in and out of this ride with ease and MY GOD, MAN!!!!! The back seat is an incredible rush! When Oceana goes from pond to wading pool in 1/2 second while spinning around your feet......new experiences await along the beach for all of you. I thought I couldn't be surprised or thrilled anymore.....I was mistaken! WOW! I'm still on a high.

Capacity was perfect! Every coaster, except one, running at FULL capacity.

Problems: 1) Mantis was only running 2 trains, still, the 3rd train under a tarp and was a disaster in line. 45 minutes, the longest wait of our day. 2) 7 consecutive problems on 7 consecutive coasters pertaining to patrons being removed from the attraction because the protection devices would not fit them. That was understandable, but 7 times in a row?

Lastly, I want to send a special THANK YOU to Greg in Merchandising. He not only took care of a merchandise problem in a matter of minutes, but was courteous and gracious that I had a season pass and was calm about my little problem. These people really know what they are doing in this business. I am fortunate to live so close to the #1 park in the land (IMO).

Were you following the smae person who kept trying to get on rides? 7 is an amazing number to happen consecutively.

Mantis won't be running three trains any time soon. Because it's such a slow loading ride, there is no capacity increase by running three trains, so they don't.

The amazing thing was that it was 7 different people on 7 consecutive rides. We kept track after it happened twice in a row....Blue Streak to Corkscrew, Gemini, Mean Streak, Magnum, Mantis and the Wildcat.....it just blew our minds. (To be official, the Mean Streak one was while we were coming back into the station, but still had to wait for the person to get in, get out and get off). I realize the first 4 on the list were the smallest cars on the circuits, but wow, simply amazing.

I'm sure we have talked about it before...but is there a solution to the Mantis capacity issue? If the crew is getting the same amount of people through with three trains, as they did with two (as I believe I read back in the day), then stick with the two train operation. Jeff brings up the slow loading ride issue, which makes sense, but can it be fixed? Would a seperate unloading station (as was rumored during the off season) be the solution...or could Mantis be re-fitted to be turned into a floorless. Always interested in your thoughts!

Actually an unload station was a hot rumor for some time, but obviously it didn't happen. Don't know if it would help or not.

I think it would be interseting to have floorless sit down trains on Mantis. As much as I personally like Mantis as is, it seems like there are some issues with the trains and loading/unloading.

True. They were stacking even with 2 trains. Why wont they let people buckle their own safety belt? I figure that would make load times a little quicker.

It's not that they won't allow it, it's that most people can't. As I've said elsewhere, it's easy if you're used to it because you know to get the belt before you pull down the harness. Most people don't think of that until after they pulled it down.

Heck, if 30% of the riding population knew how to buckle the seat belts on any of the rides, ride time would decrease slightly. They were stacking with two trains yesterday, on occasion, and they were working at it. The problem with this ride is that it's an average B&M that smashes the 'jublies'.....and it's worth only one lap during the day's outing, thus, I will be the first to say that I will make your lines shorter for it. Enjoy! : )

Actually Jeff, when I was in the station, the ride-op with the headset specifically told everyone not to fasten their own belts. Heck, I wanted to, but I felt if I did, I would get yelled at for it. :)
