Wet 'n Wild announces tornado

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Wet 'n Wild water park has started construction on a Brain Wash, a tornado-style slide. It will feature lighting effects and video snippets that play on the walls of the ride.

Read more from The Orlando Sentinel.

ProSlide has got to be raking in the (Canadian) dollars with the Tornado slide. Brain Wash is the third one that I know of being added this year along with King's Dominion and Hersheypark. There's probably more being added that I don't know of.

I totally agree with Dennis Speigel in the article that this is becoming the standard ride that every waterpark needs like the wavepool or lazy river. Unfortunately, for many small parks, it's probably financially out of reach.

Wet 'n Wild may not have the glitz and glamor of the Disney parks, but it certainly has a lot of unique and cleverly named attractions. I'm glad to see that the world's first water park is staying competitive.

Finally Universal is spending some money on their parks!

I don't think its that bad. I guess Proslide must be pretty competively priced, as a (formerly small) water park near montreal, family owned, replaced most of their old slides by new Proslide stuff, adding a Tornado in 2005. This year they're adding a Behemoth Bowl, so they must be doing ok!

I just looked at Proslide's website and they mention a new smaller Tornado called the Tornado 45. Funtown Splashtown, Frontier Lodge (Lasalle, IL), Hersheypark, a Taiwan waterpark and Rapids Water Park in West Palm Beach, FL are all adding that model. A few other parks are also adding the standard Tornado.

We thought Wet-n-Wild was a fun park when we visited Orlando a year ago. There's alot to do in the park. Disco H2O is also a relatively new ride that was fun - so they have been investing in the park.
