Welcome to the new CoasterBuzz!

You're looking at about six weeks of spare time (and a little too much time at work). Huge shout out to the beta testers for helping me squash the bugs, as well as the entire membership of Guide to The Point's CP Place for giving me ideas on how to tweak the forums!

If you have any questions about the site, check the help icons first (upper right, with the "?" on them). If you have any suggestions about how to make the site easier to use, do post a message here!

Have fun!

WOW! This site is GREAT! Awsome work, I just got back from school and the first thing i did is go to coasterbuzz.com to see the new site! WOW!

All I want to say is WOW, I mean this is like my general coaster site dream, a place to keep a track record, etc. I do have a couple things to say though:
1. On the update account form, it says somewhere CP Place

2. If possible I think it may be nice to keep the track record in order of when you first rode them, etc.

3. Also for track record, be able to keep a tally of how many times you have ridden a coaster

4. When you click on Personal Buzz you should go right to your personal page, not that login thing, that is if you are already logged in

5. In personal profile be able to put in things like AIM/AOL name, ICQ Number, homepage, age, etc.

Well now that I said wow and gave my first suggestions I got to go work on my site. Au revoir!

1. Oops!

2,3. Perhaps in a future revision.

4. Yeah, but then it wouldn't have the links that get you to the other places.

5. I totally agree. Let's see how the site goes for a week or two then I'll consider it.

Cool, it's nice to see people who actually care what people say!
Magically I thought of another thing (I don't know where these are coming from, excitement perhaps), If possible on the personal start page have it tell you if your selected forums have new messages?

I'm having problems logging on to the wen site I changed my 4 # password already. I can't edit or get to my track record. Help!
Sorry coasterpunk, that seems strange to me but Jeff, I made a big update to my site today and when trying to submit news got a VBSCRIPT Runtime error or something...
Also when going to the Big Dipper at SFO Page you get this error:
ADODB.Field error '80020009'

Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted; the operation requested by the application requires a current record.

That's it for now!

WELL DONE !!!!!

Coasterpunk: Try logging out, then back in. Sounds like your browser is doing something funny with your cookies.

SFO: Big Dipper was missing the designer. That's my bad. I guess we didn't catch that in beta. Regarding the news submission, there was a spot of last minute test code still in there. My bad! It's fixed now.

Thousands and thousands of lines of code and you're bound to miss some things. ;)

I think the problem was with the cookies I disabled thm earlier in the day. I turned them back on and its running fine.
Thanx
Jeff, I would just like to say this site is wonderful! I can't wait to get my site up and running! I'm using ASP and I'm doing something a little like your site, but completely different. So if you love aviation, hop, or rather fly on over to http://www.flightcommunity.com and check out what's going on.

The site will hopefully start "buzzing" this weekend. I have already told a plethora of people about this site and they are really excitied about it also!

Wonderful Work Jeff! Take the week off! hehe :)
BTW: I'm using a database on my site and I think I'm actually getting the hang of it! Now its just up to the ASP code to process the rest! Cheers!

Are we alloud to post about our sites now? anyway... What is ASP? I am trying to make a whole new site. My site is really messed up right now. I want to get Frontpage and register a domain. Any tips on where to host or anything like that? I have to say it again, WOW!! I am gonna make coasterbuzz my start page! :)

ASP stands for Active Server Page. It's a page with scripting language in it to access databases and dynamically generate the content on a page.

If you're looking for hosting tips and the like, I recommend the ISP/Hosting forum over at www.scriptkeeper.com.

Regarding FrontPage... While it is a useful tool, it won't help you build dynamic content. That's a myth. You really need to know what you're doing to build ASP's. FP makes it easier to manage the site, but you could just as well use Notepad to write the scripts.

Ok, thanks! I thought FP was a web site builder like Web Studio. I am using WS to build my site and it is awsome! It is just really hard to get things lined up because it uses drag and drop, but it is easy to use. Do you have any suggestions for a graphic creator/editor. I have Paint Shop, but i am still trying to learn it (i just got it 2 days ago) Oh yeah, i wanted to ask you about the forums. Did you create them yourself? Or are you using Ultimate Bulletin Board? I was just wondering because i didn't see the UBB Copyright at the bottom of the page like the old CP-place had. And would you ever make forums for someone, for money? I have been looking for a good message board and have not been able to find one. I like UBB but i like the Coasterbuzz and CP-place forums better, i was just wondering.

I wrote the forum software. It's not really for sale, but I'll adapt the forums for the right price. I'm pretty sure it would be out of your league, though.

Yeah, i'm not to good at that kinda stuff. But i could learn. :)

My new site will be finished in a few weeks and i could really use a new message board. Not right now though, becuase i wanna finish my site, register a domain, and find a good hosting service. But i will need one and i REALLY like how this one and the CP-place board looks! So if you ever want to sell me a message board , just let me know. :)

Bryan, if you want to learn about creating good webpages, I suggest you pick up an HTML/Javascript book and start reading. Then tool and tweak around with the HTML/Javascript until you are comfortable. You don't really need to know Java because you can just get scripts from sites on the net.

Once you get comfortable, I strongly suggest you pick up the Wrox ASP 2.0/3.0 book over at www.wrox.com I am well on my way to creating ASP pages, and who knows, within a month or 2, I will be running a site, somewhat like CoasterBuzz, but only for Aviation fans!

Good Luck!
