We need some Cali trip help you CBuzzers!

So some friends of mine are heading to Cali from Apr 22 - 25. Parks are Universal, SFMM, DCA, DLand, Knott's.

Specific questions I have are:

SFMM is open til 1am on Fri, Apr 22. I'm assuming this for some heavier attendance due to some event there, like a Christian Gospel Fest or something. Has anyone attended on this day and if so, how was it? Were crowds well behaved or was it total chaos? Also, does the park empty out at like 11pm or so? Anything to help with this day is MUCH appreciated.

Disney/Knotts on a Saturday...is this to be avoided at all costs? I know they are crowded but is it worth going to Disney on a Sunday instead of Sat to get lower crowds? Is Knott's THAT BAD on Saturday? It's open til 10pm, when do the crowds disperse usually?

What is the absolute cheapest we can get a Knott's annual pass right now?

Any other tips you guys have in mind can't hurt. We have accomodations covered, and we're all set at Universal too. We don't need any admission tips other than the Knott's annual pass.

Thanks guys!

Joe C.

Short answers, because its late and I need to go to bed:

1] Avoid the Christian Gospel Fest or whatever event is happening that day.

2] Avoid Disney on a Saturday. Knotts will be busy but not as busy as Disney.

3] There is no sale on Knotts passes that I know of at the moment, best to call the park and ask. There may be a coupon available at a fast-food joint of grocery store chain.

Moosh, do you think late July will be very busy at DL/DCA with the whole 50th thing going on? I'm guessing that it will be busy right around the "official B-day" but then it will get back to normal closer to August... Is there any deals for Universal right now and where would you recommend staying?

MiG is finally getting back to the WestCoast :)

SFMM can get some notoriously long lineups, especially on event days. If you do go, hit x first, and expect to not go again. Even at night, X is busy. Certain coasters are always busy, and some are always empty at night. And often, there will be "waves" of people moving back and forth across the park. Try not to get caught in one, because line times will skyrocket.

Ralph's (the grocery chain) often sells tickets to Knott's at half price, provided you buy something from their stores. Knott's is never very busy on Saturdays, but if you're planning to eat at Mrs. Knott's Chicken Diner, book way in advance.

Swoosh - Disney is busy ALL SUMMER LONG. I avoid it from Memorial Day thru Labor Day.
The only 2 times I have been to DCA have been smack dab in the middle of the Summer (once on a Saturday). While DL was crazy crowded, DCA was nowhere near. I believe my longest wait for California Screamin was 15 minutes.

With their 2-parks-for-one special they've been having DCA has been much more crowded these days. True, Disneyland will traditionally be more crowded than DCA.

I've been a So Cal resident for almost 40 years...there is a reason I avoid all the theme parks in the summer ;)
