"We Enthusiasses Are Kings (WEAK)"
rollergator was coming up with a club name for all the annoying club members who feel they are special and deserve special treatment just for being in club. These members and enthusiasts cause the rest of us to look bad do to their bad attitudes and conduct at parks and on these boards. I would like to hear any stories people have about these kind of people.

Off topic but rollergator came up with a good acronym. Up at the University of Colorado, they have a campaign called CHOICES, choosing healthy options in college eating situations. I almost choked when I read that.
Anyways, the only idiot enthusiasts I have witnessed cuss and moan at a certain webmaster we all know.

I won't go into details about how some of the people I have dealt with acted up at media events, but I would like to share a short story on something that happend to me at PKI the week before Son of Beast opened.
On Easter Sunday of 2000, I had just arrived at the park looking forward to having a great day due to the lack of crowds. I was approaced by some guy that asking me if I was going to be able to ride Son of Beast before it opened to the public. I told him I wasn't because I was leaving for California the next morning and would miss the opening.
The man then continued to hint around that he wanted to attend the media day, and wanted me to let the park know he should be there "because I am just as enthusiastic about this ride as you are and should be included in the media day ERT". I told him there was nothing I could do about it. Thank goodness that I ran into Shaggy and Aaron because they helped me get away from that dude.
Believe it or not, I get a lot of this from time to time. I don't mind the requests from people asking about a press day, but I just don't see the point in 'demanding' to be included in something like a press event. Can someone shed some light on this for me?

The answer's simple.... everyone wants to be first to ride, so they can brag to their friends and other enthusiasts.
Think about it: people STILL brag about being the first to ride coasters years and years later.
I fall into that trap sometimes.... I want a PKI media day invitation so badly.... and as a credentialed member of the media, I've gotten them in the past! But it doesn't look like it's going to happen this year. Am I disappointed? Yes. Am I going to call PKI to complain, or start trouble on this newsgroup? No, because I have a little maturity and realize my presense at the event probably would be superfluous and unhelpful to the park.
Some enthusiasts are just little kids in big bodies.

And what about the "friends" issue. As in (after jumping through a thousand hoops to get the club members invited) they ask "can I bring a friend?" when the invite specifically says "membership card required."
And then you get the "come on, it's just one person," added to the "I just dropped my membership last month," or "why not?" or "how long does it take to become a member?"
So be prepared, you'll have to start the "WEAK friends" and "WEAK excuses" chapters, too.

Me, I just want an excuse to be anywhere but work.
