WDW "Under Construction"

Took a quick Spring Break trip up to WDW and did one day in the Magic Kingdom with my daughter. Some quick observations that didn't make sense sharing anywhere else:

The upgrade to Country Bears was refreshing and relevant. I was in a full theater. That might be because of various ride closures instead of because it was a new show, but it was nice to see. I will say, the new show in its entirety was fun to watch. The audience was singing along and clapping. It was a welcome surprise though I'm sure there are purists out there somewhere fussing about it.

I walked around Frontierland just trying to imagine what the park will be like without the Rivers of America and Tow Sawyer Island. While I doubt too many people will miss either of those, in terms of the attractions, I just can't picture what that area will be like without the river. Why they couldn't figure out how do make improvements while keep that area is still a mystery to me. If they could do in in landlocked California (to make way for Star Wars) I don't know why they couldn't do it in Florida.

It is amazing what happens when you lose a couple of people eating attractions. Thunder is down for rehab and Pirates went down for about four hours during the day. The Adventureland and Frontierland midways were ridiculous during that time and it sure would be nice if they could figure out some way to widen the midway back in that area.

I was thinking more about the "why" of my many visits (discussed in another thread) and what I said before was true. I just feel at home when walking around the Magic Kingdom, and it still amounts to a day of fun for me. Although, the days are getting shorter as I get older. We left the park around 5:30 after doing everything we set out to do. (My non-coaster rider skips the majors and didn't want to wait in line 100 minutes for Tiana). We laughed all the way around Autopia, enjoyed the respite and nostalgia of Carousel of Progress, and took a vital spin on the best ride in the park...the Jungle Cruise (even enduring a 75-minute line).

Maybe someday I won't have fun when I visit, but it hasn't happened yet.

I thought the way they handled Big Al's number was a very clever nod to the prior version of the show.
