Grey Stuff. Yum. (No clue what it is...)
But yeah, unless there's a location I've never heard of, I've always considered MK the worst of the four parks for a special meal. This upcoming trip we'll be leaving MK to freshen up for our reservation at California Grill.
We've settled on Tony's Town Square Restaurant for an Italian meal a few times which is passable. We are going to give Liberty Tree Tavern another try in a couple of weeks...and now I can get a beer there.

The grey stuff? It's delicious! Don't believe me? Ask the dishes!

The best deal for me is still Cosmic Rays over in Tomorrowland. Its location is good being near the Hub and at the corner of Fantasyland so even if you are on the other side of the park it doesn't take long to get there. The prices aren't bad for the portion size and the food is pretty tasty. Even when its busy Ive never waited long for food and its typically pretty easy to find a seat.

Cosmic Ray's is the place that serves counter service burgers and such, right?
I used to like Peco's Bill's for their taco salads. Do they still have those? For some reason I don't remember seeing them last time I was there.
But other than quick and easy counter food, I've never been impressed with Magic Kingdom.
Correct. I usually get the turkey sandwich because its pretty big and fills me up. Plus its nice that they have a toppings bar so you can really make it anyway you want.
I think the taco salad bowls are a signature item at Pecos Bill's so they should still be there. Last time I walked through there I saw people with them and that was within the past couple months.

I was super disappointed with Cosmic Ray's when we were there this year. It used to be our go-to place for a decent meal at MK, but they streamlined the menu taking away many of the good options. They had only two of three bays open when we ate there, and they both had the same menu, so there wasn't the please-everyone variety of food that once was offered.
I really liked the Caprese flatbread at Pinnochio's, but other than that I'd describe all MK counter service food as "meh." It all seems to just be frozen then reheated crap across the board. We didn't eat at any table service there, my wife wanted to try BOG but we couldn't get reservations before about 9pm, and none of the others seemed very appealing.
Come to think of it, if I had been able to get a beer at Cosmic Ray's (Harpoon UFO, maybe?) maybe my opinion would go up a little. :)
Hi
Yeah, Cosmic Ray's sucks. Pinnochio's has the good flat breads and the spicy chicken sandwich, Columbia Harbour House has fried seafood, if that's your thing, and yeah, the Mexican stuff at Pecos. None of them are extraordinary. I'm often resigned to chicken nuggets at MK, which aren't terrible, but I'm not sure why stuff at the other parks is better.
At least there's Dolewhip, but even then, you can't get it swirled with vanilla anymore, which is better in the floats. Gotta go to the Poly for that.

I can’t believe this thread is nearly 6 years old. There’s quite a bit of pearl clutching, “what about the children?” and Walt grave spinning on social media today as word comes down that mixed drinks with liquor are being added to the menus at certain MK restaurants. I would link to an article but I can’t find one that doesn’t make me want to stab my eyes.
Thank God. That park would be a lot easier to deal with if you could get a drink.
And yeah, I couldn't find anything that wasn't the typical link bait nonsense. I want to punch these people in the nuts who can't write a normal headline.

Back in the day, I would drop by Mizner's at the Grand Floridian for a couple before heading in.
Mizner's was my favorite bar after the Belle Vue Lounge. Sitting for a few Manhattans while listening to the Grand Floridian Society Orchestra was such a simple pleasure, but it's one I definitely miss.
Back in my drinking days, I was guilty on more than one occasion of buying one of those small pints of booze at the GF or Poly gift shops, mixing it with a bottle of soda and sneaking it into the MK. I'm sure I wasn't the only one to figure out this workaround.
No, I wasn't stumbling around drunk; or slurring my words, or acting like in idiot....one wouldn't even notice. Just a little something to take the edge off. It actually made the MK an enjoyable experience.
I still think it's just a matter of time until you see drink carts at the MK.
I don't care for MK because it takes so long to get out of it, given the distance to the parking lot. It's less of an issue when you're staying on property since the buses are right there.
Alcohol is everywhere at Epcot, but you don't really see people fall-down-drunk there. Again, I think the cost acts as a filter, and I don't think that's by accident.

Well, at least not very often. When we went to Party of the Senses several years ago, M reported a couple of Woo Girls in the restroom who were employing the boot-and-rally strategy.
I guess when you offer a time-limited open bar, that changes the nature of the cost filter.
Tipsy Stroller mommy’s navigating around an overcrowded, hot , muggy theme park all day long. What could go wrong?

I know what all of those words mean individually, but not in that order.
Hi
And of course we can talk all day about anecdotes, but it's not Six Flags. Or BeastBuzz behind the Tomb Raider building after the kegs of beer.

Sadly, I think I missed out on the best of BeastBuzz.
Anecdotes are not data etc. etc. but, if I think about it, I've probably seen more people hammered in Epcot than any other amusement park, including any of the SF parks I've visited. IMO that has less to do with whether booze is available (it is at all of them not named MK) and more to do with how the park markets itself. The annual Epcot calendar goes something like: Art & Food & Wine, Plants & Food & Wine, Miserably Hot, Food & Wine, and Holidays & Food & Wine.
And the Miserably Hot season didn't really happen: Plants ended on 7/4 and F&W started 7/14. At this point, the festivals are year-round. When the park's marketing message is "Come! Eat, drink, and be merry!" some guests will take them up on it.
Even so, it's a handful of people. Even the drinking-around-the-world college reunion types don't really get much past "a little buzzed and a little loud."
