Very interesting...
Reminds me of the wooden coaster ones in RCT ;)
With that game being based highly on real coasters (no fake elements), I bet at one time it operated with the splash.
I'd like to see one of those on a B&M invert ;)

Ouch, that would hurt if it was on a B&M invert!

It looks like in this picture from Lone Star Thrills that water jets spray the gawkers as the train hits the trough.
I seem to remember a few years back there was a coaster show that showed an actual water splash element on a wood coaster. Danged if I can remember the show or the coaster.

My thoughts exactly jimmybob. It seems more like an effect then the coaster actually physically going through the water much like the Hulk and Anaconda do. Definitely an unique design.

ive read up on that coaster, ti at one point did use the water splashdown as a brake, sort of. it would slow the train down, the triin would go over the little bunny hill and stop smoothly into the breaks, now without the splash it stops almost completky at the top of the hill, goes down to where the splash wuold have been and slams into the breaks.
i belive they stopped using it because it was a matenince nightmare, and a pain in the *** to drain.

The *splash coasters* I've been on are Blazing Fury and JtA. TSC and DDR are simply flumes with uphill sections, so I wouldn't include those, and Anaconda and Hulk are merely water effects, so they wouldn't really count either.
The splash ending is a great feature IMO, totally under-utilized...can't wait to try out BuzzSaw Falls...post-SRM trip....;)

My mind works in strange ways. Yeah with a chain driven lift hill and gravity.
