Water park proposed near Gettysburg

Residents of Adams County, where the Gettysburg National Battlefield is located, were deeply divided last year over a plan to build a glitzy slots casino in Straban Township, about a mile north of the historic Civil War battlefield. The project, to encompass about 164 acres, is still in the early stages and many details, such as the total cost and start of construction, aren't known yet, Mrs. Califano said today. Plans call for an 85,000-square-foot indoor water park, similar to Great Wolf Lodge in the Poconos and Splash Lagoon in Erie. The water park would be connected to a hotel with 400 suites, a 7,000-seat indoor theater for concerts and shows and eight acres of well-manicured gardens and fountains.

Having been to Gettysburg several times and seem how the area has been commericalized over the years, I can see where an indoor park/hotel would fit in.

Maybe they can call their wave pool: Shermans March.
;)

Well they do say Gettysburg was the "Highwater Mark of the Confederacy." :)

I didn't notice before, but a 7,000 seat theater is one big theater. That's 4-5 times larger than your typical "performing arts center" in the region.
