Was it really worth to be torn down?
did the ride open for halloween? As predicted earlier in the year by some memebers.

Either way make sure its on a coaster

Since I am on a posting roll *2 whole post counting this one* I just thought I would answer your question. I rode the coaster in the summer of 94, which I think was before the mod. to the track, I may be wrong on that so I stand corrected if so, but I didn't find it anymore rough of a ride then most coasters. IMO Kumba at BGT is rough on the head, with the banging and to be honest I don't remember DF being as rough or rougher. Just my 2 cents :)

As far as roughness goes, I rode DF about a month after it originally opened.  I thought that it was on par with Steel Phantom at the time (which, remember, was a few years ago before SP got really rough.)

I liked it, and re-rode it.  Sad to see it SBNO, but seeing how SP degraded so quickly, and how rough DF was right after construction, I can only guess how bad it would feel after a few years.

I rode it 5 times 2 weeks after it opened.  I never complained, and absolutely loved the ride.  It became my favorite that day.  I never had the chance to ride after the mod.  No complaints on my end, though, because I imagine it became quite rough, as did many Arrows of that era.  I miss it greatly......

It was a little rough, not that bad though.  I always loved riding that coaster when it was open.  Please open DF back up.
It wasn't that bad. The corkscrew after the brakes was a little weird, since you entered it strangely. But it was eventually removed. I never rode it after that corkscrew was removed, so I assume it got rougher like other Arrow coasters. It was my favorite Arrow coaster and favorite Toomer ride, so I really hope they open it back up with any modifications needed to smooth it out. We all know it can be done, but will Busch spend the money?

My opinions could be biased because I never thought a coaster was too rough. I haven't had my ears bleed or anything but I have recieved some minor headaches and aches. I think it comes with the territory. The worst headbanging I experienced was on Flight of Fear(pre modifications) and Poltergeist, and I didn't think it was all that bad but I could see a small child or elderly person might get on and get brutalized. Of course I'm older, and like many older buzzers the concept of a smooth coaster was unheard of before B&M came along. Coasters were rough, and that was the point, they were supposed to show how brave and cool you are to ride it. If I close my eyes on Medusa West, I can barely feel the ride except for the zero-g roll. Long live rough coasters! What's the point of going 90 miles an hour if you don't feel out of control?

djansi, THANKYOU!  Feeling out of control is what makes a great coaster.  What is the point if you can't feel it!  B&M will probably always be around but eventually parks will start adding more of a mix.  I believe we are already starting to see this happen.  While it isn't always a "great" ride, GASM on a good day is one of my favorite coasters at Gadv.  After a couple rides, Medusa can actually get boring.........
yea i agree there is nuthing like a rough coaster to a sertan extent.I could close my eyes on medusa or nitro at SFGAdv and only feel the wind in my face and some air and thats about it but on a coaster such as an arrow looper,SLC or wooden coaster if you close your eyes ur in for some big surprises once you finaly open them.,and on those types of ride sna dim sure there alot of other companies your always bracing youself and not challengeing the ride with your hands up.
What ever happened to it? (DF) Is it still standing or did someone finally buy it and move it?
DF is SBNO

I wouldn't call it bumpy, just the OTSR made it a bit uncomfortable. It dose, or did give an out of control feeling with fast sudden changes

Here is a wacky theory. On Magnum with the trims off on the pretzel I think it is a lot smother, maybe because the faster pace forces more of the load to be put on the main wheels. When it goes slower t may give the train more room to shift of the road wheels onto the guide wheels, which causes the jerkiness. I think the problem with any Arrow loopers is not the speed it takes, but the quick, fast paced transitions. Your head want to go one way but the rain goes another way, causing the head to bang into the restraint.

Look at Phantoms Revenge and how smooth that is. The chassis wheel gaps are the same as on Steel Phantom or any other Arrow Looper. PR threw me around with recklessly, and my upper bossy was going every which way just like the old steel phantom except with more airtime :). Just lap bars made for a heck of alot more smoother and comfey ride.

Lap bars would to wonders for Drachen Fire methinks.

Hey y'all!

Does anyone know where I can find a picture of the layout of DF? Especially the corkscrew that was removed, and the "strange entrance" to it. Thanks!!
