Warning on Holiday World's site?

I know this is somewhat of a crowds question, so I apologize, but SpecialEd and I were planning our first expedition to Holiday World for next weekend. But, we checked the site and there is a specific warning about coming on Saturday, June 24th ... which is of course the day we were planning on coming.

So, my question is, we don't plan on getting to the park until between 3 and 4 pm local time ... is this "warning" still applicable? Are we talking a few busloads that will be out of the park by 6pm? Are we talking "crowded" for a small park which means 20 minute waits for the coasters instead of 5? Just looking for some clarification on the warning. HW regulars? Paula?

I noticed that at work today too. I'm going to be there this Saturday, June 17th. The only thing I could think of is that they are the first and second Saturday's they are open till 10pm which may cause an increase in attendance, but to have a notice to say not to visit on those days leaves me worried. It's my first trip there ever and I want to have a pleasant experience, preferably without 2 hour lines. .
Dear I-i

Thank you for bring up your concerns about Holiday World. They have been noted in our log. The truth is; we have a large group that day and we have no idear how long they are staying. Please be advised that the line for (Voyage) does move pretty fast, and there plenty of soda.....for all!

Thank-you

Santa

That's really classy- a park that says "Hey, if you're coming on Saturday, we'll be supercrowded. You may wish to reconsider your visit."

Kinda weird, too.

^Its good business, if one goes to a park on a super crowded day, that person is more likely not to enjoy his visit, when one does not enjoy a visit one is less likely to come back (especially if this is their first time visiting.)

A lot of parks tell you just to avoid Saturdays all together, but of course HW goes that extra mile yet again and tells you specfic days not to go if you dont like 2 hour waits.

I'm planning on being there this Saturday. However, I'm showing up around 5pm, mainly to ride the three woodies in the evening. Hopefully the crowds will be a bit more managable by then? I just happen to be attending a wedding that afternoon in Tell City, so that's the earliest I can get there. Sounds like not such a bad choice after all! ;)

Maybe it means it will be one of those days where all those switchbacks in the waterpark get used. Can't imagine waiting in several rows of switchbacks just to get into the lazy river. Yikes!

Especially in all that heat...ouch!
There are a bunch of company picnics planned for those weekends. My mom's company picnic is 6/24. My past experience in visiting during heavy company picnic days is the rides are very busy in the morning. Between approx. 11am - 1pm, those crowds are in the picnic areas for lunch. After that, a good portion of those folks head for Splashin' Safari to stay cool and a fair number of the older crowd head home. I've had good luck getting plenty of rides on both Raven and Legend during such weekends. You have a reasonably good chance of not having any problems getting rides on the three coasters, but I can't make any promises.
I am heading out to the park on 6/17. Hopefully the crowds will head out and I get to enjoy some night rides on their excellent coasters.
By posting the advisory, we've found in the past that enough folks are able to visit another day that the crowds are far more reasonable.

And POINTON3, Santa has added you to the Bad Boys list. Don't mess with the man in red! :)

We're making our first visit there on the 25th. I was happy to see that the "busy day" is going to be before we're there.

Can't wait!

How was the 17th, anyone here visit the park? My plans for a trip in the midwest from Texas are fairly intractable and the only date I can visit Holiday World is the 24th.
Um, trying to steer people away from your park is never good business, imo. ;)
I was there on the 17th. It was very crowded, but my time there was still very enjoyable. Three train operation and a great staff on the Voyage made for 30-45 minute wait times which was very impressive considering the amount of people there. Go and have fun on the 24th. The night rides on their three great coasters will more than make up for the crowds you will be dealing with.

Um, we've also been told it's bad business to give away soft drinks.

Somehow, we've survived. :)

Hehe, doing right by your customers keeps them coming back....and they tell two friends, and they tell two friends.... ;)
^ Then before you know it, you have to post notices about crowded conditions on your park's website.

...the increase in attendance pays off. They build a small scale Intamin Rocket coaster in the 4th of July section called Firecracker complete with 4 inversions, one of which is underground...
