"This will be the first trip that we will take our 7 year old, and we are trying to see if we take turns, could we possibly fit in one ride on H:XLC while the other watches the munchkin. Of course, this trip is primarily for her to have fun, but how can I spend 3 days there and not try to ride H:XLC at least once!"
Okay, this is something that I have seen come up many times here and with the exception of height-checking-nazis @ CP, it seems to work fine. Why dont all of you wait in line together, you board the coaster solo, ride. When you come back, your 'munchkin' walks through the ride, meets you on the exit and your companion rides solo. There, you have all waited the same amount of time together, enjoying quality time. :)
Anyway, I went to PKD on Friday and though the lines werent horrible, they were longer than I expected since schools are still in session. The waits for H:XLC were 45min for any seat and 1:30 for the front (admittedly, the line was longer in general when I decided to wait for the front, but the line was about an hour all day).
There is a ticketing system in place for H:XLC, but when we went it was not being used. I have *yet* to see the express pass system working at this park on either H:XLC or Volcano, though the ticket dispensers are visible (yet *another* reason I prefer my OTHER home park).
As for possibly shattering the little girl's dreams, you have to at least tell her that there is no Ghostrider @ PKD and I'm not aware of any video with Scooby Doo's Ghoster Coaster on it. If you meant Scooby Doo, let her ride it without telling her anymore. Either she will want to do it again or she will lead you far from it. However, I suggest you take her on the bobsled coaster first. It's my favorite "just for fun" ride in the park, and since it doesnt have any airtime drops, it's not scary at all, yet the hard helicies give it a little bit of thrill (kinda like a lot of flat rides).
Hope that at least helped some.
