Want to see a great park.. where should I go?

Just wanted to chime in with the others. I've been going to Kennywood all my life and I've never spent less than the day there.

Hell, even during PFN we stay 5 or 6 hours. :)

On the other hand I have stopped by SFWOA for just 3 or 4 hours - go figure.

And, like 'gator, we easily spent a good 3 hours at Boomers in Dania.

I'm pretty sure we spent at least 3 hours at friggin' Uncle Bernie's even. :)

That's not necessarily a suggestion to come that far for KW (although, it'd probably be worth it), but rather saying that if you do, don't expect it to be a '3 hour park'

I agree with all the Kennywood talk. I live 30 minutes from GL and I can spend 3 hours there and be bored for my last hour. It didn't used to be that way back before Six Flags bought them out. It was full of charm, and little things to do, much like Kennywood.

I will gladly drive 2 hours to spend all day at Kennywood, even if I don't ride much its still a great place to be.

Add me to the growing list of people that could easily spend an entire day at KW and only a few hours at GL.

I've only had the chance to visit KW once and I only got to stay for 5 hours. I still didn't get to hit all the rides I wanted and didn't get rerides on Exterminator, Racer or T-bolt. But I enjoyed the atmosphere that is harder to come by these days in the mega parks.

I haven't had a chance to visit GL since it's change over last year, but that is a park that can easily be done in a few hours if the crowd is light. I used to spend half of my time visiting the wildlife side on each visit. The flat assortment is better than some (SFMM), but still lacking. And while I love a few of the coasters, only those few deserve rerides. And it is completely devoid of character.

Hey, how the hell can you or anyone be bored of the place in 3 to 4 hours? there is craploads to do, way more than KW. I think you KW fanboys just want to stress your little park. Well guess what, I'm a fanboy stressing mine. and mine has more potential in it's NEW future.

Jesus christ son, SF really jaded you people. give Cedar Fair a chance, my god. CF is putting alot of focus on this park now. it's kind of like the disney and universal resorts in florida, only here it's Cedar Point and Geauga Lake. Don't you people even realize the changes being made???? by the way, I only said KW could be done in 3 hours, I never said I hated the place. I just don't go anymore because I've gone there all my life, it's familiar, and unfortunately, it's small.

I also love , LOVE waterparks. and for me, in my location, takes me the same exact drive time either to GL or KW. I know they have the KW SC combo pass, but cripes, I'm not going to drive miles to a waterpark when I can go to GL and enjoy a much better, much larger, much more innovative waterpark with much more innovative attractions that is all in one park.

GL was the site for many first innovative rides in ohio, like X-flight, Steel Venom, or the awsome Longest floorless in Dominator. Not to mention alot of other firsts such as the first to offer a waterpark with general admission, the first park to house a Huss top spin, and the park is a classic at well over a 100 years of operation.

All I'm saying is, GL is more resort like than KW by far especially this year. it's large, I like a good sized park, and the walk around the lake from the north side to the south side is just awsome. Especially on the boardwalk and checking out the park view from the lake. Lots of great rides, well over 50 attractions, which is alot more than KW.

Look guys, I like being able to go camp in the GL campground, and especially this year now that a new parking entrance is opening near the camp. it's literally just pull out of the camp area, turn right, and less than 100 yards make another right onto the parking lot road. this road and campground are away from the city, and nicely wooded, making it feel more like a whole resort, than having to pull out of somewhere, and drive through a town to get there.

The hotel is great too since it is only less than a 1/4 mile away from the north side park entrance. plus shuttle service! definately disney like on that one. KW doesn't have their own hotel, they don't have thier own campground, and they are smack dab in the middle of an industrial city. Just not my idea of a resort kinda fun. WHICH I LIKE. You don't have to, but GL is my ultimate favorite place to be, and all you little nay sayers are just another person less I have to stand behind in line.

You need to lighten up also. We never said we hated GL, we just said it doesn't take an entire day to enjoy everything that it offers.

Granted it is going to get better over the next few years with the waterpark expansion, I'll agree with you on that one. But it definately doesn't have any character anymore. It's just your run of the mill amusement park.
