Walt Disney World Monorail

When someone freaked out the other day about the ride breaking down....it got me thinking.....do they have a patent on the ride? More than likely they do, so does anyone know where i can find it on the www.uspto.gov or any other government patent site? I would deeply appreciate anyones help. I have been trying to look for this forever and can not seem to find it...i must be typing in the wrong words.

Thanks in advance to all those who reply.

Best way to find any Disney patents are to go to that there USPTO website you have listed and type what is following inside the quotation marks: "(disney or imagineering).as. ". That *should* bring up all the patents assigned to the Disney company. Having 'Disney' alone might work, but I'm not sure if they dont use the name 'imagineering' when applying. Anyway, that again *should* be sufficient. If you dont see it in those, chances are it doesnt exist.

P.S. You might want to limit your seach to the relavent years so you could type "(disney or imagineering).as. and @py>1950 and @py<1980" to limit your search to between 1950-1980 (etc...) Also, you might want to use the words "amusement", "transport", "transportation", "train" or even "monorail" to avoid Disney's flim industry patents.

email me (jeremy.norris@uspto.gov) if none of the above works for you

--guess where I work....

Disney found the Monorail design he liked in Germany. He modified the design of the Alweg system (made it 1/3 scale). The marketing of the system is done by Bombardier Inc. I do not know about the patent(s) and who would hold it.

I'm pretty sure that Bombardier, Inc. would hold any patents on the Mark VII monorail trains that currently operate at Walt Disney World.

They were contracted to build them by the Walt Disney Co., so the design is theirs.
