Walkway collapse over water ride causes minor injuries at Silver Dollar City

Posted | Contributed by Sawblade5

A 25-foot section of a walkway collapsed at Silver Dollar City causing several people to plunge into water below. It happened inside a building where people were lined up to ride "The Lost River of the Ozarks," a water ride at the park. Injuries were minor.

Thank god fackler or markey didn't get in on that one. I can see the speech now. ("The brain injuries caused by the fall will certainly impair the victims of this tragic accident for the rest of their lives. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah I'm an idiot blah blah blah blah blah.) ;-) I hope all those people don't sue Silver Dollar City but you can sue anyone for anything these days.

Oh give it a break. If you're going to jump on a bandwagon, at least learn the songs first.

Some of you post the stupidest things regarding accidents and it does nothing but prove that the government does have to protect stupid people from themselves and others.

Well there were signs at the entrance that did warn them that they WILL get soaked...I guess they got more than they bargained for.

yeah one important thing that I've learned is that don't say anything about an accident until you know the exact specifics. Making early judgements can be very harmful.

"A woman from Hensley, Arkansas underwent about 12 hours of surgery Tuesday. Mary Koon was one of 21 people injured, including her husband and 9 year old son. But her injuries apparently were the most severe, with broken bones in both legs and ankles"

I would hesitiate to term these injuries as "minor". Abrasions and cuts, yes. Multiple broken bones and several hours of surgery to fix them, no.

Well I, for one, couldn't blame people if they sued for a collapsing bridge. I mean, that is certainly not the fault of the guests. It sounds like the fault of the park to me. It is their responsibility to maintain the bridge so that it won't collapse. This has absolutely nothing to do with Markey's brain injury arguments. *** This post was edited by Natas on 7/17/2002. ***

This proves the Que House is more dangerous than the Ride. This is something to hold against Markface.

Jeff, Did you forget to feed the Raptor again? That Raptor is not in a good mood.

Have you guys ever been to silver dollar city ???

And another thing...when you post messages they are supposed to be about the subject...in this case the bridge falling down...not about some raptor that is fake you are so Immature not saying any names (Sawblade5) so stick to the subject ! I have been there hundreds of times so don't take the name of Silver Dollar City In Vein !!!

That bridge has been there ever since they put in the ride...so it is very old and you aren't supposed to expect manmade things to last forever do you ??? I thought so... But when I go again over the summer I'll see it and hope it doesn't collapse again but I'm not expecting it to fall down in the near future.

Natas...It is not the parks fault that this happened...It was an old bridge and you can't really inspect it so you kind of expect it to happen sometime or another...It could have been prevented if it had cracks all down the center and you had a ton of people on it but that was not the case because it did not have a bunch of cracks down the middle...It had a ton of people on it though!!!

At least no-one was killed and I'm sure that S.D.C. won't let it happen again...
