The venerable Scrambler is being moved closer to the park's train station to make way for a new $1.5 million mega-ride. The caterpillar-style Music Express will rattle up to 60 passengers at a time beginning in spring.
Read more from The Erie Times-News.
What this article fails to mention is the 800ft of retracking on Ravine Flyer II. Even more good news!
I can't believe a Music Express costs that much. I can't believe a new one is being made, for that matter.

Is this just a standard Bertazzon Musik Express? The made-in-Italy and passenger capacity specs match up (edit: ignore this next bit, I can't read) but the article states 23 cars vs. Bertazzon's stated 20.(/edit)
More excited for the new wood on RFII personally, but Musik Expresses are solid family flats, and it's still a good addition to the park. Kinda surprised that they still fetch a $1.5 mill pricetag though. Couldn't they find a used one for like... a tenth of that price?

They fetch about $800,000 new. The buyer incurs shipping from port of entry to Erie, plus installation. I believe it is going to be installed near the picnic area, so a concrete pad has to be poured, and service run. They bought a park mount, which is cheaper than a portable model.
Hersheypark once had a $1 million capital line item for a Chance Chaos. The ride iteself was $495,000, plus delivery and set up. Hersheypark added a pad, q'ing, lights, signage, etc. I told them it was like the $300 hammer or $500 toilet seat for the Dept. of Defense.
Read the article carefully, it's 20 three person cars, not 23 cars. Another good addition for the park. That $1.5 million also probably includes the new landscaping and fountain.
I like the idea of 23- person cars. That'd be a pretty decent capacity!

Does anyone still have a Chaos? I liked those.

There are a few around still. I can't think of a specific example though. I think there might be one at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

Maybe Waldemeer likes new rides, and can afford to buy one. Maybe they plan on keeping it for a long time. It's like asking why someone bought a new car when there are plenty of used cars for sale.
Plus, if you are considering the transportation taking a big chunk of the price, the price difference between a new one and an old one gets smaller.
While I am not a big fan of the Music Express rides, they seem to be pretty popular. This is a good purchase, in my opinion.

I love that a Musik Express is headed to Waldameer. I always tell people that this park is the Geauga Lake of my childhood. A Musik Express is just one more memory of Aurora that can help kindle the illusion in my mind.
Now if only Waldameer could get an Arrow looper and riverboat. :-)

The price of this project is not only for the physical ride itself. The midway between Dodgem and L. Ruth Express is being reconfigured. By moving Scrambler closer to the train station and placing Music Express in the original Scrambler location, Waldameer will be able to widen the path next to Dodgem significantly.
Mr. Nelson doesn't like used rides. He hasn't purchased a used one since the removal of Flying Coaster or as we Erie people called it "the bump."

Adventuredome in Las Vegas. That's the only one that comes to mind for me. Loved the one at Cedar Point though.

The only time in my life i've been birded was on Chaos at CP. The ride ops was understanding and helpful with the cleanup.

If Rotor man is still around, and if a local park got one, I'm sure he would re-emerge. Has anyone seen him at Conneaut since Blue Streak reopened?
