Thanks to sunny skies and newly introduced season passes, Waldameer made a big comeback in 2010 and has park management moving ahead with plans for three new rides in 2011.

Well, we know one of the rides will most likely be a flying carousel located in the train turn-around. Any guesses on the other 2?

Good news for Wallyworld! The Little Park That Could shoulders on. And three rides...guessing one of them will be the Waveswinger, that was originally supposed to be installed this year but which got axed after last season's bad numbers?

There was a quick comparison blurb at the end about Conneaut Lake. Please remind me. How far apart are these two parks? How far is Waldameer to Kennywood?

Let me RCDB that for you. :)

Waldameer is about 45-50 minutes from Conneaut Lake Park/Meadville. I'm not exactly sure about the distance from Kennywood, but it has in the neighborhood of 2 1/2 hours.

I never knew that RCDB had that feature. Awesome!

I would have Googled it myself.

Great news, but where would they put them?

I thought I remember that they said the swing ride was going to go in that grassy area behind the pirate boat.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Awesomeness! :)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

There is surprisingly a good slice of land behind Sea Dragon and next to Ravine Flyer II. My imagination is that Waldameer is going to open the midway up between Sea Dragon and Gondola Wheel by evolving it into a coule-de-sac in the train loop with extensive landscaping. Fitting a Flying Carousel and a kiddie ride will be no problem at all. The third ride I believe is a surprise coming because Waldameer has offered little details. My guess it's a Zamperla model, because of their recent commitments of Mega Vortex and future Flying Carousel. Locationwise, the area within the Scrambler, L. Ruth Express entrance, and Dodgems has been prepped with utilities for furture expansion of both the Merry-Go-Round Pavilion and a new thrill ride. Although, I don't think the food court in the Pavilion will happen until 2012 or later.

Flyers!

Well the report says 2 family rides to be located near Raven Flyer 2.

so the 3rd is likely the swings mentioned above. not a bad addition list.

Though they likely could have added just the swings and people would be happy.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of the new rides is a Rockin' Tug. It's a Zamperla ride and it is designed for children and their parents.

A 3-ride package from Zamperla? Swings, Rockin' Tug, and an Air Race. Done and done. :)

I'm glad to hear that they're doing well. I went with a large group of friends a few weeks ago, and really enjoyed the change of pace from the big parks.

Wind Seeker :)

Or Fahren....oh, I don't have the heart to keep it going. ;)

I'd LOVE an Air Race at Waldameer! Swings would also just continue to add to the classic charm and actually pretty great collection of flats they have up there. Rockin' Tug might be a miss for me since they just added a Disk-o though. Still, swings and an Air Race would incredible additions to the park. Especially the Air Race... I mean look at this thing.

Though honestly, my vote would be for Zamperla's Windseeker/Starflyer/Maverick/Fahrenheit knockoff Vertical Swings. Set it close enough to the edge of the bluff and you'd have some pretty spectacular views of the lake.

Air Race was an incredible ride. One of the best flats out there.
