Voters disapprove Disney plan for rail line, authority chair father of Disney lobbyist

A survey of Florida voters says that only 2% approve of the proposed high-speed rail line stopping only at Walt Disney World from the airport before going on to Tampa. About 91% said that there should also be a stop at the convention center on International Drive, which is in closer proximity to Disney's competitors. Disney has said they will not allow a station on their property if they are not the only stop in the Orlando area, a demand that puts the rail authority in a tough spot because they need the Disney traffic to help fund the operation.

Meanwhile, the chair of the rail authority is the father of a man who lobbies for Disney, putting conflict of interest issues on his plate.

What Jeff said.....ROFL. Even moreso when you live IN Florida....;)
Just a question: If they do build a station "across the street" from Disney, how long do you think Disney would withold shuttle service from it? The way I see it, they could catch some serious flack from tourists who only know that there's a perfectly fine mass-transit station there that they want to use but can't. Disney doesn't like flack.
I am a Florida taxpayer (and we don't have a State Income Tax). My fear is they will want to institute a State Income Tax because they will have no way of paying for this boondoggle. If one way to pay for it without instituting a State tax is to get Disney on board then I say do it. What are the odds that I am going to be using this train anyway? Basically nil. It is the tourists who will be using it.
SFGAmn: Your not getting it. Disney has no need to run a shuttle from the train station as they *already* have transportation STRAIGHT from the airport itself. Why would a Disney guest ***** about service from the train when they can get express service straight from the airport?
