Vortex FINALLY gets its paint job

For those of you curious, when I just checked PKI`s webcam at 11:40 is was on The Vortex. Unfortunatly, it`s hard to tell how much they`ve primed/ painted!

It's amazing what a new coat of paint can do for a coaster, and I hope Vortex does get the treatment (though I've been on it once this year, and that was enough). I saw Raptor up close last Wednesday and it looks fabulous.

I'm pretty sure PKI changed to a different type of wheel from a different supplier this season. The new wheels appear to be harder that the old ones, which means they should run faster, last longer, and give a rougher ride than the wheels they used last season.
Hmmm...I wonder if anybody can tell us for certain...

I just got back and yes, the Vortex is being painted. The new paint starts at the end of the second corkscrew and ends on the 1st brake run after the helix. All of this track is painted a deep royal blue (rails yet to be painted). This thing looks like a new coaster (now only if it rode that way). But overall, I am totally digging these new colors since I have only seen it when it was a light blue. Also, on a side note most of KCKC is gone except the top of the lift and a few supports. *** This post was edited by matt1080 on 5/5/2001. ***
