Vortex at PKI

Best corkscrew I've ever been on...period!
Happy Birthday Vortex!
Every time I'm at PKI theres at least a half hour wait. No reason to get rid of a great and popular ride.

I went to Sandusky, but there was no Callahan factory
AJ...wasn't it the 11th? Slipped my mind! Thanks for the reminder.....now to somehow get this 30,000 pound cake on I-71! Not to mention 15 BIG trick candles!

I've been trying to resist, but I can't anymore.............

TAER IT DOWN

Vortex is the best Arrow Looper I have ever been on hands down. It is one of my favorite rides. Getting rid of it would be downright stupid.
Ahh, my baby! It's nice to see all the support for what is, IMHO, the pinnacle of what a mega-looper should be. I love the originality of the layout. Name me ONE other large looper that doesn't take the first drop right into the first loop (I'm not counting the ol' Phantom 'cause she's not a mega-looper anymore).

BTW, the Vortex is the ONLY coaster that's inspired me to pony up the dough for a T-shirt. First season, grey shirt with the name and the steel fist holding the track, framed by an orange triangle. Now, where did I put that thing????

Later,
EV

Thats how I fell Den. I know it's a popular ride but I just would like to see PKI get a B&M sometime and where Vortex stands would be a nice spot. Also that seems like a good spot because I don't like the Vortex that great (not on the top half of my list). I know you all will say why do you want a B&M so much and there not that great but other than the Beast B&M' s are my favorites and would like to see PKI get one

A B&M invert, definitely. But Vortex is a high capacity, jaw dropping attraction. And it has history......The Bat footers and Station add an eerie yet sad reminder of one of our greatest accomplishments in the coaster industry. And how about the boomerang placed right up viewer's noses! :) OK, so the "RCT" transitions don't sit well with some people, but it sure gives it character. Even the little dip and turn before the station is sexy!

Hey, Beast_rocks, sorry to fool you but my last post was only joking (making fun of somebody's post from like a year ago).

Read further up in this thread to see my real feelings on PKI's Vortex.

There are plenty of places a B&M could go. There's also plenty of B&M's in the area to begin with. I think PKI is more interested in offering something different for park goers, not that they couldn't or never will build one. Stranger has happened.

"Incidentalist, how can you say PKI "will" move Vortex? You have no idea!

Vortex isn't going anywhere. Drive past PKI on I-71 and tell me which coaster you're staring at.

First of all I do believe that Vortex will one day cease to exist, that is what I meant when I said it will be moved. Not within the park and not for any reason other than it being extremely old and possibly hard to get parts. That means that I think it will be standing for quite some time, but not forever. Nothing lasts forever Den and one day your beloved coaster will succomb to the ravages of time. And to use your reasoning, how do you know for sure that Vortex will not ever be taken down. That's all I was saying, eventually coasters get torn down. We have no idea how long a steel coaster will remain since most are still standing in their original place. But many have been removed and that trend will continue.

By the way when I'm driving down I-71 I'm looking at SOB. It's closer, more imposing and better looking from a distance IMO. Just because you look at Vortex doesn't mean that every single motorist is doing the same.

Don't take Vortex down! It's my favorite Arrow looper. I just rode it last Friday and Saturday. It has a really odd but original layout, and I like it. And as others have mentioned, that station is really cool, with all the history.
Well I'm sure not looking at the Skycoaster when I go past!
