Vortex at PKI to to look new

Rumor has it that Vortex at PKI is to get a new paint job during this winter since the same paint has still been standing season after season since 1987 when it opened. This ride is still 1 of the most intense around. My guess and I do hope it will be the same orange and blue paint like before. The ride is not only great but it looks awesome.

I just hope PKI doesn't paint it like PKD did with Shockwave. YUCK! :p

If they do paint it, which they really should, it needs it, badly. I only hope that PKI does not do something stupid and change the color scheme. You can tell that it hasn't been painted since '87, and the color scheme is still cool.

The track is multi colored. The rails are painted green and orange they alternate every 4 or 5 feet thru the whole course. 8^P Then the supports are a light blue color. 8^P I personally think it's the ugliest paint sceme I've seen on a coaster.

If they repaint it, it'll be the same color, just like when they repainted King Cobra.
coasterpunk, are you sure you are talking about the Vortex at PKI. The Vortex at PKI has blue supports and track beams, with orange rails. And when they repainted King Cobra they totally changed the color scheme, Everdred. The King Cobra used to be green with yellow rails. I'm not trying to criticize your opinion, coasterpunk, if you think it's ugly, that's your opinion, but the scheme you described is not the Vortex's.

Everdred - King Cobra's paint scheme is a lot different than it was before it was repainted. It used to have green supports and track with yellow running rails. Now the supports are black, and the track and rails alternate between green and yellow much like the aforementioned Shockwave. I think that does look pretty cool, but I don't know if I would like Shockwave's colors. However, I don't think a scheme like that would look good on Vortex. I hope they keep the same color scheme it's had.

Now if only PKI would repaint the Racer. That ride used to to look awesome, but now it's in sad shape.
Hmmm... I guess I oughta look at King Cobra more. I usally walk right past it while looking up at Drop Zone and SoB. Ofcourse, I just was there like an hour before I posted that, so I shoulda known... oh well...
pkitex87, I think that coasterpunk was talking about Shockwave at PKD not The Vortex

I hope this is true, the Vortex has such an intersting layout that a new, sharp paint job would look really cool. The old job looks like it has seen better days.
Yeah, just the other day when we were there my dd said "you think with all the money they have they could give this ride a new paint job".

I was refering to Shockwave at PKD. An earlier post of mine said I hope PKI doesn't paint Vortex like Shockwave at PKD. 8^P

I was wondering what might be up with Vortex -- when I was at PKI last week it seemed to me that the park was closing out all its Vortex logo merchandise and I wondered if they might be planing some change in color or logo or something.
That would be cool but I like the orange and blue effect.

Hey, if it looks better, it may attract better crowds, and for those of you who have PKI as your home park, thats bad for you. I believe that it's good to have a good looking coaster in your park because then the GP will think higher of it.
