Volcano: TBC Restraints

This weekend, I was watching the Travel Channel's Ultimate Thrill shows from 2003. In particular I noticed something wierd with Volcano's restraints.

On most Intamin Inverted's I have noticed that the secondary belt clips to the side of the harness, but on Volcano it had on in the front as well as one on the side. The only difference, is that in every scene they showed of the ride, the side belts were never buckled. If they don't use them, why leave them?

Any insight?

...and such

Volcano is a nice thrill ride don't you think? I say take a trip to Kings Dominion and have some fun!

College Program Alumn, eh? Nice, I'm looking into that...

Anyway to answer your question, while I have not been to PKD in 2 years, they always lock on the bottom, as they have a handel bar type thing on the sides to keep you in.

The side seat-belt has been long gone. I believe it only lasted for two years before they changed over to the standard center seatbelt only.
Intamin put the belt on the side. After...ahem...something happened, Paramount put the belt on the front. Apparently later, Paramount removed the side belt as it was redundant.

I think Paramount was right on this one, for what it's worth.

It's the same seatbelt buckle as Kingda Ka...noticed that on my first visit to the park on Saturday.

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger
