Voice of Kennywood

Who out there knows the words to the song that plays at the end of the day right before the voice of kennywood comes on and before the lights go out? I know someone does.

And is it an old song recording, new song, does it have significance in Kennywood's history, who is the singer, etc?

The song you are thinking of is "Nighty Night" by Alvino Rey. It's an old song but I don't think it has any significance in Kennywood's history other than the fact that they always play it before closing. I've only heard it once in person, but I've downloaded along with Kennywood's opening song "Entry of the Gladiators."

It's actually a 15 minute mix of about 5 songs.  "Nighty Night" comes on right before the sound of chimes which is when all of the stands/rides are officially closed.  Since it comes on at such a key moment, it's the song that most remember.  (Also, it's really the only recognizable one in the bunch.)

The recording has been the same for as long as anyone can remember.  You can hear the records' clicking sounds n the background if you listen closely, and the edits really aren't that great.  It's a piece of history, though, and I doubt it will soon or ever be changed.

A big "wow" out to Joe for finding the same recording out there somewhere.
