Vivendi Universal profits soar despite slow attendance

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Vivendi Universal, the company that owns Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios, says earnings are up across all aspects of their business and will likely come out of the slow theme park attendance positively. Big summer movies like Jurassic Park III and American Pie 2 are partly attributed for the positive revenue.

Vivendi recently bought mp3.com, too. The deal became final about a month ago.

...just a little added fact. :)

Awesome, now maybe they'll put in something major at IoA for next year.  It would be awesome to get that rumored flying coaster from B&M, but I'd settle for any coaster, as long as it wasn't a Vekoma!  ;)

Good for them, now all they have to do is add a rolercoaster at Universal, California, and make it more like IoA. Hehe.

If those were big movies, then The Fast and The Furious should be up there too, and it should top both of them put together. It has well made more then $150 million dollars. I'm pretty sure it's over $200 million by now, since the movie came out in June.

Fast and The Furious, by all critical accounts, was a complete waste of time. I don't know anyone who saw it, and am not interested in seeing it since it's full of nobodys.

Star Wars was full of nobodys.

Good for Universal. I guess the economy won't hurt everyone after all.

Have you seen the movie Jeff, no, you haven't. Don't start talking crap about it when you haven't seen it. The movie got three stars by the Denver Post. The Denver Post doesn't think it's a waste of time, same as I since I've seen it twice, and a lot of friends I know.

So you don't like import cars? Maybe since you are an adult, but teenagers like import cars. Import cars can "toast" a Ferrari, Lamborghini, and other exotic cars any day of the week, and that's no joke. So a movie that has made a $150 million dollars + is a waste of time? Millions of people don't think it's a waste of time.

So your saying the movie is full of nobodies? I wouldn't say that Ja Rule is a nobody. He is one of the biggest rap artists in the country, and has sold millions of records.

And don't agree with critics so quickly. Critics put down "every" movie. See the movie first, then if you don't like it, you can put it down. Don't bash on the movie when you haven't seen it. "Don't judge a book by it's cover."

That was a pretty pointless ramble... what are you really getting at? When did anyone start to care what the Denver Post had to say about film? Ja Rule is a nobody in Hollywood. Selling records doesn't make you an Oscar candidate. Hell, it doesn't even make him a Grammy candidate.
