Visionland News

A local televisoin station aired a segment on VL. It was very positive and said that the park had a 15% increase in attendance from last year. It also stated that the water park was the major draw of people, but that Magic Adventure is doing well. It stated that a new ride would be coming to Magic Adventure and to be looking for an official announcement in the next several weeks. I know we have several fellow Buzzers that are VL employees.

Does anyone know what the new big announcement might be?

I wonder what was so terrible that Cedar Fair passed on the park. They might be kicking themselves now.

Yeah, I wonder that too Jeff. I'm enjoying watching VL turn around and start the swing upwards. Thanks for that bit of good news Steve.

Screamscape mentionned they could be getting a Vekoma Boomerang. The one from the now closed Wonderland in Australia. Actually, this is one of the few parks where a Boomerang could work, as there are no other looping in the park and its would be a tall coaster.
Visionland is in the Birmingham, Alabama metro area (Bessemer, AL). I drove up to it on my way to SFNO last Friday and was pleased to see the new exit road off the interstate open. Now, it's much easier to access the park.

The way I understand it... Whenever Visionland first came up for sale and Cedar Fair looked into it the Outlet Mall was included in the price. Cedar Fair mentioned that they had no intentions of taking on retail shops and didn't want to deal with the Outlet Mall. Visionland wouldn't split the two up so Cedar Fair backed out. In the end, Visionland split the two up and offered it to Cedar Fair as just the park, but they had already moved on, probably to Michigan's Adventure.

I to wish they would have kept the park so at least someone wiht financial backing AND experience would have hold of the reigns. But the owners seems to have a level head on their shoulders about it all... so let's see how it goes over the next few years.
