Visionland announces steel coaster

The Birmingham News announced today that Visionland is getting a new steel coaster in 2005. It is a Vekoma boomerrang coaster. The new coaster will be a nice addition to the budding park. For more information, take a look at the article from the News.

Take a look at a picture of the coaster that I got from Screamscape.

For a park that struggled the first year or so of being open, they have really turned themselves around...way to go...

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

I think this was announced a while back ;) At least I knew about this one for a week or two.

Oh, I dont think that the park has turned around quite yet. Darn, if they would only run two trains on Rampage, and add more and better flats, then it would be a decent park. Then again, one of my biggest issues with the park is the lack of bang for the buck. *** Edited 12/6/2004 3:00:20 AM UTC by RamblinWreck***

Visionland is a cool park. This will be a great addition (even if it is a boomerang). All they need are for the trees to grow in more and the park will be a great place. Keep adding a flat or two every other year it will be a super cool park.
I think it needs a complete flat ride overhaul. I din't think much of the park other than the cleanliness, the atmosphere, Rampage and the potential.

The article says it's coming from the World Expo in Brisbane, not Wonderland Sydney.

It was at the world expo in brisbane originally, but was then moved down to wonderland after the expo closed. Since wonderland sydney has now closed, it had been sitting there doing nothing. At least it will not get scrapped now.
The Boomerang at the World Expo was bought by Wonderland Sydney and installed in a gothic/castle setting and gave it the name of The Demon.

....I'm gonna bust my BUTT to get to this.

OK, I'll admit it, it's really cause I've never ridden Rampage....but this won't hurt.....much...;)

hmmmm...wonder if anyone's goin' to RRR this year? That meeting calendar is useless...;)

I'll be there Gator. A few of us posted in the meeting calendar last year. I told myself 2 years ago when I first went to this event that I would try to never miss one. The 3 hours of ERT on Rampage is some of the best around. As for the new boomerang, I'm just glad to see them adding anything to the rides side. It should be a big draw too. When I was at a similar park with a boomerang this summer, Dixies Landin, you would have thought from the way the kids riding it were talking, that it was the greatest thrill machine ever conceived;)
Heath,

Does Ragin' Cajun STILL have that horrendously loooooooong ride cycle with the painfully slow lifts on BOTH spikes???

Brian, who's NEVER quite understood a 15 minute Boomerang ride.

Brian, our ride on the Ragun Cagun was pretty standard. Nothing about the ascents up the spikes was any different than any of the other boomerangs we've ridden. Except everyone was freaking out around us. It was quite funny. The only wait we had was for the ride to actually open, about 45 minutes after the rest of the park.
This is very good news and I bet that the general public will eat this up. I have to work this summer, but I will try my hardest to get out there and ride it. Especially since I have never been on a boomerang.

The Visionland website has been updated with a promo video for the coaster.

Schwarzkopf shuttle loops...The most possible fun in 36 seconds.

They seem really excited about a standard Vekoma Boomerang but..good for them!
Why shouldn't they be excited? Aside from Rampage (which is outstanding and almost worth the admission price alone) they don't really have much else to offer. Yes, even less then SFDL. ;)

I rode it at the world Expo and Wonderland, and it's the same as a million other boomerangs. Unfortunately it gets boring real fast.

I actually like Boomerangs, but ONLY Sfdl's.

Yeah I said something nice for a change.

SFDL's boomerang is smoother than Superman, very little headbanging, going backwards, especially the loops, is intense, and the whole ride is a blast.

I just hope this one is as good.

I think a looper is good for the park but they do have a S&S tower so thats cool.

Did you think Superman was rough???
