Viper back at SFGAdv.?

I was browsing through rcdb.com and came across in the new for 2002 season was listed Viper at Great Adventure as being reopening this year. The opening date is listed as 3/29/02. So, to all your Viper fans, the ride looks like it's back. I didn't find any info about if there are any kind of new restraints or lap bars on it.

Yes, they're trying to get Viper up and running for opening day. I've been there to see it cycle and there are really no major changes to the ride, the restraints are still exactly the same, and of course the headbanging will still continue.

When we were at SFGAdv last August Viper wasn't running and rumors was it was being torn down. I was pissed too cause it looked awesome! (But sounds here like it isnt as great as it looks?) It was the only coaster we didnt get to ride :( LOVED the park though-awesome time and Nitro and Medusa ROCKS!!! :)
And to this day the funniest ride I have EVER laid eyes on is the "Rodeo Stampede" - "Two per Cow" the funniest sign I have EVER seen too!" :)
Another visit to SFGAdv a possibility this season unless we head to California instead!

wow am i the only person that after riding nitro, batman and chiller will absolutley run like hell to viper. i loved the hangtime in that ride.
Definitely looks like an interesting ride. I'm sure it's rough, but then again, so is the GASM, and the chiller. I was sort of disappointed that i didn't get to ride it - the only other TOGO I've ridden is Ultra Twister, which wasn't great, but definitely different and worth the ride. I'll be willing to check this one out - thanks for the info.
I'm guessing I'm the only persoon who thinks Viper will be smooth this year. Look wht they did to the Chiller so there's definatly a chance for a turn around, right?

Medusa rears it's ugly head. A monster coaster unlike the world has ever seen. Your strapped to a flying chair, 14 stories in the air! Just don't look down, you can turn to stone! Only at Six Flags Great Adventure! Buy one season ticket admission get one

Your working on Nitro this year? That is awesome...I really wanna get out there and try it out. Obviously I'm a big B&M fan...and I wanna try one of their hypers...and it looks like Nitro has some awesome airtime.

Corey-I will definitely stop by and say hi if we happen towards Jersey again this year!
B&M Tycoon-I too adore B&M's (Raptor seems to be my fav and since Im Raptor Jo I guess that makes sense doesn't it? ;)) Let me just say this, I LOVED Medusa, how I WISHED CP had THAT instead of Mantis! I discovered late last season that SFWOA's "Batman Knight Flight" rocks like Medusa too so at least it's in the same state as I.
Nitro has TONS of airtime, I LOVED it, it was the only coaster we rode 2x that visit. Although I get slack for this, I PERSONALLY think that Nitro is better than MF. To ME MF is all speed with NO substance, Nitro is ALL speed and ALL substance!
Another B&M marvel is Talon at Dorney, B&M should be very proud of Raptor's baby brother! :)
Thanks for all the info on Viper, if we go again, it's on my "gotta ride" list, after Medusa and Nitro obviousely! ;)

Noper....the change on Chiller involved new restraints in the form of just a lap bar, and as I said before the restraints on viper are still exactly the same. And when the state inspector was there on Thursday, he rode it himself and proclaimed it still to be the "king of all headbangers".

I just got backfrom SFgadv and I was getting my season pass proccesed and I saw Viper running with no problems.
