Viper @ SFMM in TV ad

while watching TV on my local NBC affiliate, a new Cheetos commercial poped up, nothing much but advertising for some new Twists they are making, and then they show Viper going through its course, and then they have a camera in the second seat of the car and the Cheetos cheeta pops up and says, "they are dangerously twisted!". Just thought i would mention it.
Nothing against you, Rctycoon, but I am seriously sick of seeing Viper in commercials, movies, TV specials, etc., etc.

Den, what else was Viper in? I can only think of the movie Space Cowboys.

Nothing... NOTHING... can prepare you for... the Fourth Dimension!

Dang Den, having a bad day today?

I'd say in at least 50% of the commercials featuring a roller coaster, it's Viper. Plus there's True Romance, countless TV shows like Beverly Hills 90210... I know there are many more movies... help me out, someone.

Antuan: Yes, I am, actually, but what in my post indicated that?

It was also in Encino Man. Another "great" movie with that talented Pauley Shore.:(

Hey Soggy, How've you been? E-mail me sometime. Got some things I'd like to discuss with you.

Instead of pissing and moaning about Viper, why can't we just be happy there's a coaster in a commercial. Yipes.

Well, this is the second post today where I detected some kind of resentment (See thread about TTD's effect on S&S) Don't worry, the day is almost done :)

Jus' gimme de light!

I made the post about S&S on Friday or Saturday, I think.

Any bad vibes you get from me today stem from the fact that for some reason, my eyes hurt so badly that I can barely open them, yet I'm still at work because the network decided to go down for two hours this morning. So there. ;)

Viper looks like an awsome ride......Why are you so ANTI-Viper.....An old(er) ride still getting attention must mean its really good.

Im the #1 Canobie Lake Park Fan!!!These are my top 3 coasters:
1. S:RoS @ SFNE 2. Yankee Cannonball 3. Cyclone/B:TDK

Dude - I'm not anti-Viper. I love it. It's just that there are a dozen other coasters in So.Cal. alone I'd rather see on TV, but they always go with the old standby.

There may be a whole bunch of stock footage of Viper sitting around somewhere (or Six Flags may have it) so the advertisters and some of the TV shows don't need to go film at the park.

You must be this dumb to ride Viper. -SFGAdv.

Add in the fact that the three SF parks that got those Arrow mega-loopers are all *identified* with those rides. Even thouh SW is gone, GASM and Viper were THE looping coasters at SFNJ and SFMM, respectively, for MANY years....tall, proud beasts with their loops ten miles in the air, beckoning patrons to step up and take a ride...

Since Viper happens to be a BIT closer to that *other* industry, it was the one that got all the recognition in commercials, TV shows, movies, etc.

Yes, I wouldn't mind seeing some more diversity when it comes to coasters on TV. SFMM has plenty of newer coasters to be shown off.

Here are a few other things that Viper has appeared in.

It really doesn't matter that there are other coasters: From the ground level, the three sisters (Shock Wave, Viper, and GASM) may just be the three most cinematicaly appealing steel coasters on the planet. They have good colors, eye-catching elements, layouts that confound from afar but are simple up-close, and an impressive first hill. Not to mention that they fit everyone's (or at least most GP's) steryotipical mental picture of "roller coaster" to a T. Add in all the stock footage of Viper lying around, and you've got a coaster that will continue ot make appearances for a long time to come.

I kind of got tired of seeing Superman:The Escape over an over on those Discovery shows. I'm sure it's a good ride, but it looks so boring on tv. :)

Got that right, Tampa Bay all the way! Brad's got to have a career day...

You are about to discover what lies beyond the 5th dimension, beyond the deepest, darkest corner of the imagination in the Tower Of Terror.

Its just as bad in person. I mean, Monte has a way better launch, and thats 20 years older.
You know whats getting old now is Goliath showing on every other show. Im just getting sick of Goliath. Im not against the ride. Its just way overrated.
I generally get tired of the fact that when a coaster is finally on the Travel Channel (Gasp! Not Vegas Week?) The shows are all California parks. I've got nothing against them, but living on the East Coast, it would be nice to see something from our area sometime.
