Viper @ SFGadv

Viper at Great Adventure is worse than Windjammer imo.

Shockwave, a stand-up coaster at PKD, is one of the smoothest Togos I've ridden.

are you kidding. I had a lump on my head after riding shockwave. That ride was HORRIBLE.
Viper is a unique experience, go ride it and see if you like it.

Absolutely applies to Viper. Never again.

Re-read what I posted: Shockwave is one of the smoothest TOGOS I've ridden. Still very violent compared to other steel coasters by other manufactures.

Viper is the worst coaster I have ever ridden. If the ride didn't have the heartline I don't know what I would have done. My second least favorite coasters stands right next door in Rolling Thunder. Just tear them both down.

Yo Dragon82487. You shouldn't have to ride a coaster the "right" way. You should be able to just get on a coaster, ride it and enjoy it. If you have to get on and position yourself in a way that makes the ride less painfull, than it is a piece of junk. Kind of like Viper.

I disagree. If asking someone to keep their head back while riding a ride instead of flailing all over the place, then maybe some people shouldn't be riding coasters. It doesn't matter what coaster I'm on, I sit the same way. I used to think that sititng up straight with my head back was normal, but maybe it's not.

Maybe I'm strange, but Viper has never once hurt me. I can understand how people can get hurt, but from seeing people get off of the ride, they could be exaggerating a little bit. In no way am I impying that everyone does that, because I know they don't, but some people have a tendancy to blow things up more than they should.

I'm sorry if this post seems mean because that's not how I intended it to be at all. I just get upset when I see people saying such horrible things about a ride that I like.

I had a really long post explaining why Viper is a horrible coaster but is still fun, BUT a stupid lightning storm took out the power for a minute shutting down my computer. Anyway, I'll summarize it. Viper is still exciting but it doesn't attract enough guests. It also hurts and attracts complaints. Blah blah blah...I still ride viper every time I go because I forget how much it hurts. I say SIGNS in the middle of my post and it was really good. (I recommend it to anyone who liked The Others) I lost track in my most leading me to... Great Adventure needs to add a new coaster by Viper, close Viper, The Scream Machine and Rolling Thunder to make new trains and work on their tracks. Then reopen the coasters in 2003-04.

-----------------

The only TOGO I have ridden, is Ultra Twister at SFAW, a Very fun coaster, a little slow on the reverse part of the trip, but fun none the less. TOGO OTSR's aren't very forgiving, and EXTREMELY heavy. But Ultra Twister is a pretty smooth coaster, for being a TOGO. I actually enjoy MARATHONING it. Besides, the GP love it.

Take it easy.... This is about Viper. Rolling Thunder IS a good ride. So what if it looks bad. Have you even ridden it this year?

actually, rolling thunder does seem to be riding better this year. Or maybe I just got used to the squeaking :)
All this talk about Viper and no one mentions the park might be removing it this year?!?! =^P

I think it's an even trade for a dinky little B&M flying coaster though... ;)

Rolling Thunder's far turnaround was retracked over the winter. Maybe that's what you're thinking of.

Rolling Thunder isn't any more different than it was last year. Not saying it's bad becuase it's one of my faves (That shows the lack of Woodies I have been on). Koaster King, Where did you hear Great Adventure was planning on removing Viper?!? And Dinky B&M Flyer! Man your crazy!
Ah, TOGO, the most underrated coaster company out there. I've been on four of them and I can honestly say I didn't hate any of them. PKD's Shockwave was ok. I liked the standing air and the first drop/loop. The only part that truly sucked was the helix which I remember was very rough. Manhattan Express was nice. The heartline roll must be one of the best elements anywhere. Hangtime! Ultra Twister at Nagashima Spa Land was a huge surprise. Next to SD2K, this was my favorite ride in the park! The barrel rolls were incredibly smooth. The 90 degree lift, and nearly strait down drop were huge crowd pleasers!

And Fujiyama. The coaster that lives up to it's slogan well: "King Of Coasters." Until I rode SD2K, this was my favorite hyper. I love the hyper-twister style, and it's too bad more parks don't have this. I'd love to ride Raging Bull some day.

Now I know that not all TOGO coasters are that great. I've heard horror stories about rides such as WindJammer. But when some people just hear the word TOGO and run, I don't think they are giving them a fair chance.

Rob "Nasai" man, tell them about Bandit!

TOGO!
Iiiichiiiiirooooooo!

The OTSR's definitely are unforgiving. I think it's because they push you down in the seat, unlike others which push you back, or something. The hangtime on the first inversion is really awesome, otherwise I hate it. But unlike others, I hate Rolling Thunder more (not off topic! just defending Viper!)
