Villian Mountain

I was wondering if anyone has heard anything recently about the Villian(Bald) Mountain ride that was rumored to go into Fantasy Land at Disney World? It was suppose to have disney villians and Mickey and stuff. It would be a mix of splash mountain and the new Journey to the center of the earth at Disney Sea. The story soon changed to them making a new land, then it turned into them making it an idea for a theme park. Just like the Magic Kingdom but with villianous characters and lands. The center castle would be Maleficent's from Sleeping Beauty. All of this would be totally awsome...But as of now i know that the money they had saved up for a 5th park, is now being used to revamp Epcot for it's very poor attendance. So do you think we will see this attraction/park open at all?

Unfortunately no. Last I heard it seemed as though Disney had decided the Shadowlands park was too dark for their target audience, so the idea was scrapped entirely.

The idea was great and would change their target audience. The only problem is that people see Disney and think automaticly kids stuff and little kids tend to scare easy. I would not mind seeing a huge dark ride/coaster themed to the villains in Fantasyland though(even though it will never happen).

...And I will try again. Here is a shortened version of my post that did not show.

It sound like a good idea. Too bad it isn't going to happen.

I know, this would have been a great addition to disney world. Even though the theme park is definately out, i still think they should place a Shadowlands in the Magic Kingdom. Look at the possiblities for rides. Villian Mountain (water attraction), Ursula tentacle spinning ride(spider ride), a dark Alice in Wonderland ride or a Maze(trying to escape the Red Queen), Cruela De Vil dark car chase ride(chasing the puppies around england in her car), a Milicifent dark ride(enter her spooky castly to rescue Prince Phillip). all of these would be awsome!!! If there is one thing i would love to see disney do is bring this land to life.

No. No more spinning rides. There are already enough "hub-and-spoke" rides at Magic Kingdom. WDI has enouch creativity to come up with something better than hub-and-spoke, yet the can't seem to...

Now that you mention it, having a seperate park that works opposite of the Magic Kingdom (in terms of evil) would be pretty interesting. I particularly like the idea of Maleificent's castle as the centerpiece as opposed to Sleeping Beauty's in the Magic Kingdom.

Perhaps this might be too dark for Disney, but the way I see it, it would only be as dark as they design it to be. This would be one park that I think would have instant appeal to guests, as opposed to Animal Kingdom or maybe EPCOT.

They could perhaps do the castle for a halloween event (When they dressed up DLP's castle you couldn't really recognize it)...

Chris......do you see what I mean by we need to do that?

Alright, seeing as the lovely Jeff deleted the post I asking if you would go down to orlando to ride a ride like this....we'll ask the same thing on here. Would you go down to Orlando just to ride this new ride or do you think it would not be worth it?

Sidewinder, why would two threads be needed to talk about the same topic? Jeff (and the other mods) frequently close redundant topics...such as the one you created this morning.

I dont mean a "hub and spoke" like dumbo or alladin, but more of the type of spinning ride like the Spider that we see at carnivals. The ride/theming would be a piece of cake. Does anyone else have any ideas for more rides that could fit into Shadow Lands?

How about a magic carpet escape from the lair of Jafar?

Just think of the food possibilities! From Snow White you could have the Old Wiches Posion Apple Stall, Alice's Shrinking Cupcakes and Growth Formula. Spider web cotton candy!

I don't think Disney could make a creepier ride than the It's a Small World ride. I get chills just thinking about it.

If Bon Bon Land can have a coaster named the Dog Fart why can't Disney build this!

Yes Bon Bon Land has the Dog Fart Switchback! Look at a recent Rollercoaster article if you are an ACE member!
This is the best idea I've heard for Disney in a long time. They reeally need to consider making a park that caters to the adults/older kids. It could have more thrilling rides like California Adventure. I've always wanted to see an inverted coaster based in a castle like the way Volcano TBC winds around the mountain.
Wow, what great ride possibilities this has. Come on Disney World. Build something for the big kids!
