Very small mini-park

After playing with the scenarios and patching the game I thought it was about time to fiddle with sandbox.

Hey Ross, I have a question for you...once I download the file where do I send or what do I open it with so I am able to see this in RCT3? I have downloaded a few files but have no idea how yo view them!!
Need to save them in your parks folder in "My Documents/RCT3"
I got it thanks......Nice little park mate.....I have to say I like those Spooky Rides, My favorite has to be that Ferris Wheel....nice coasters as well.....Do you know when Cbuzz will take RCT3 saved games.....Hmmmm...Jeff?

As of right now. However, we'll have to watch the file sizes and see how it goes. My suggestion is not to upload the original bmp's for screen shots because that counts toward the total file size uploaded.

Can someone write where to get and where to put save games and scenarios? I'll add that to the help and you'll be my best friend.

Ok, but how do you suggest we upload our screenshots.....if we can upload them with our rides?
Just don't upload BMP files. Use JPG :>
Gotcha...I should have known that...sometimes I just don't seem to think!!
Anyone write anything yet?

As opposed to Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 and 2, custom created track designs, parks, and scenarios are saved to a RCT3 folder separate from the main game files. This folder is appropriately titled 'RCT3', and can be found in the My Documents folder.

(My documents can usually be found in
C:\Documents and Settings\YourAccount\My Documents\RCT3)

Track designs can be found in the Coasters folder, saved games in the Parks folder, and so on. Coasters have the file type .trk; Parks and Scenarios, .dat; Fireworks, .fws. To upload, simply navigate to the RCT3 folder in My Documents, and follow the prompts on the CoasterBuzz Games Upload screen.

When loading a file from another user, save the file into the same folder as listed above. This works for all Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 files; however, .TD4 and .TD6 files (tracks from the previous RCT editions) need to be saved to the C:\Program Files\Atari\RollerCoaster Tycoon 3\Coaster Designs folder. RCT1 and RCT2 track files must first be loaded in the Coaster Designer before they can be used during normal gameplay.

I hope that is of some help... *** Edited 11/5/2004 3:13:13 AM UTC by PhantomTails***

Actual included game scenarios (Vanilla Hills, Box Office, Checkered Flag, etc.) work as follows:

Go to: My Documents/RCT3/Campaigns

Here you'll find a folder for each 'career' you've setup in the game. They're succesively numbered (Campaign 0000, Campaign 0001, etc.) based on the order you created them.

Open the folder for the Campaign you're trying to add files to.

In the Campaign XXXX folder, there will be more folders (assuming you've actually saved at least once under this career - otherwise it is empty) The folders in here are simply named Scenario01, Scenario02, and so on - they correspond to the scenario order in the game. (Scenario01 is Vanilla Hills, Scenario02 is Goldrush!, etc.)

In the Scenario XX folder are all the games you have saved in this scenario while playing under this Career. Each .dat file also has a corresponding .dat.bak file with the same name. This is just a backup file - remove the .bak extension and it is a .dat file.

That is how you trade the included scenario saved game files.

However, it's not a simple as giving someone a set of completed files and letting them use them to unlock the game. It's similar to the first two games where you have to save the game just before the goal is met for the user importing to get the credit (I believe based on limited messing around with it) - add to this 3 levels of challenge x 18 scenarios and you now need 54 saved games to unlock the entire game.

If you try to import a saved game that has been saved after the goal is met - it loads as normal, shows the goals being met, but does not give credit. (again, assumed based on very limited toying with)

You can save files from these included scenarios into the Parks folder and open them from sandbox mode if you just want to look at/play with/learn from someone else's finished scenario.

Good deal lord gonchar, that's some good info. might have never figured that out on my own.
