Vertical Velocity

I was reading somewhere that they were going to lower the forward spike to 45 degrees, has anyone had the chance to ride it since they have done that? Surely the forward launch cant be up to 70mph like on the other Intamin impulses, you would think that it would run out of track going that fast at a 45 degree angle???
The new spike has been finished for a couple of weeks now. It is not open, but I have heard that testing is in progress. The speed will stay the same. After the twist there will be a long straight piece of track so no riders are hung in uncomfortable positions. Need I say more?

Yeah the 45 degree angle looks so wierd. I'm not going to be able to get used to it.

Don't fight back just let the ride take controll

I still am a believer that this new version of an Impulse will be pretty sweet.

The twist on the front spike is almost a zero-g-roll looking element. The train will be able to go completely through the twist into the straight track. I dont see how you would be in an uncomfortable position. I am willing to bet going through the twist backwards is going to be pretty intense.

""To be the man, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!, You got to beat the man""!!!

I don't see how you would be able to classify this as "uncomfortable" simply based on the angulation of the spike. The seats and their motion through the track determines the comfort of the ride.

The only thing that bothers me is how they can now call this ride "Vertical Velocity"......It's not really vertical anymore, now is it? ;)

Oh yeah, the angulation. That's it.

Honestly... what's the difference. We've all been through a million barrel rolls before, and vertical twists. They both work for me, why should it be any different somewhere in between?

I have got to admit, the coaster now looks kinda dumb, but don't put down a coaster til' you get to ride it, then you can criticize a coaster all you want, but don't criticize a coaster you have never been on.

I think it's still going to be a good ride..

but thats just it .. a good ride.. Regular (2nd-Gen) Twisted Impulses probably are more fun... making an awesome ride into a good one..

ah well, still gonna be a good ride

CANADA ROCKS!
Why do people line up for bad movies, simply for the fact that the words 'STAR WARS' are in the title?????

Lallen, it can be called Vertical Velocity still because the back spike is still vertical, it's just shorter than it was.

Will it go up this year? As long as it doesn't valley before Monday evening!

I'm not sure if it will add to the expirance, but it won't detract. I think the best part would be looking straight down on the back spike. Slant or no, I'd like one in Texas.

Texas Coasters... wow I'm lucky... IM me if you feel like talking about coasters.

To me it looks like a piece of abstract art that you can ride. ;)

To me it looks a little weird, but looks like a lot of fun!

I love Volcano and would think that the new V2 would be similar to the barrel rolls on Volcano! I hope to make it out to Marine World someday to try this out. That is the only Impulse in America that I haven't been on!

I personally don't think the speed is going to stay the same. If you ride Medusa and look over at V2 you can clearly tell that you are about 6-10 feet higher in the air. It got so close to the top of the 186 ft spike at 72 mph, I dont know...... hmmmmmm
