Vertical lift will be part of new Monsters Inc. roller coaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios

From the Disney Parks Blog post:

While many details about the attraction are still locked up in a laugh canister, the Imagineering team is ready to reveal the load area for the attraction. The upcoming door ride will feature the first-ever suspended coaster at a Disney Park, and the first-ever vertical lift. Get ready to scream — not out of fright, but fun.

The animation looks cool! My concern is that the turning seats will cause more downtime than the vertical lift, although the effect will look really cool if they can make the seats look like the doors they use in the movie.

Counting down the days until I'm back at Cedar Point, the one and only place to be.

This looks really cool. Is this Vekoma? Their flying trains rotate at the lift hill and brake run and this is only a 90 degree turn.

Vekoma has form engineering this sort of thing for F.L.Y. – I wouldn't expect downtime to be an issue.

Yea I've seen that for F.L.Y. but I still have downtime concerns for the whole thing, but that's probably the pessimistic armchair engineer side of me talking.

Guardians has been super reliable. I've never seen it go down while I was in line for it. Disney doesn't have arbitrary opening days it has to hit. They run stuff and open when they're confident it's ready. This will be no different.

I have been in the queue during downtime, but it was tens of minutes, not an hour+.

Guardians broke down for so long one time while I was in line for it that I had to take a crap right there in the queu.

So, like, 4 minutes?

I like the look of this thing!

This looks like it will almost certainly share some technology that they pioneered with F.L.Y - that's such a great ride and really demonstrates the Vekoma of old vs. the Vekoma of today in terms of the precision of their engineering and just not making crap, frankly.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

Looks neat, as most new Disney things do. I didn't realize that the "Monsters" brand was so endearing that it lends itself to a new innovative coaster.

Promoter of fog.
