Vekoma/Arrow Looper Track

What the major difference? I can never tell them apart from each other.
I could be wrong, but my understanding is that the track is virtually the same, if not exactly the same, and the difference was the wheel arrangments on the trains.  Arrow guide wheels ran on the outside of the tracks, and Vekoma's ran inside the tracks, or vise versa.

At SFOG, some ACE people would often call Ninja (Vekoma) an Arrow coaster.

Of cource, I could be totally wrong, so if I am, my apologies ;-)

Ninja at SFOG definitely confuses people. When I first rode it back in 91, I thought for sure it was an Arrow creation. I just sat there and compared it to the Demon at SFGAm. The track  is so similiar along with the trains.

Vekoma has a triangle cross bracingbetween the horizontal and vertical ties. Arrow doesnt. See http://club.coasterbuzz.com/features/trackspotting101/ for more info

There are a couple of give-aways that you will notice up front.
1. the track ties on Vekomas are closer together. Arrow tend to use less steel ties. I don't know why, but they do.

2. On the Vekomas, at the track joints (where the pieces of track fit together) you will see two large bolts. Vekoma usally bolt theirs together, the old Arrows weld theirs.

When Vekoma began manufacturing their rides, they used (with permission of course) patients from Arrow. As a matter of fact, many of the old Vekomas run an Arrow train

And we all know Vekoma's job is to take Arrow rides and make them worse!

Vekoma track is more rounded, but not as rounded as morgan track.  The supports are a lot different too.  Vekoma almost never uses that weird criss crossing tower like thing or whatever you want to call it, they almost or maybe always use tubular supports.  That's a way to tell the difference without even looking at the track.  Or you could just do what I do, memorize which coasters are vekoma and which ones are arrow.  It's easy.  Later.

Coasters are like a fine wine, they get better with age.
