I have a few questions about this ride. How many SLC's are thier in the world and what are the diffrent names/color combonations. If you know only 1 or 2 please respond, i would love to know how many thier are.

go to rcdb.com, coaster search, vekoma and inverted, and you get 45 results. i saw that counted deja vu and several other rides that arent strictly SLCs, so it depends how precise you want your count to be.

At http://www.vekoma.com you can see every coaster they've built (including all SLCs, boomerangs, custom loopers, wooden, etc.)

I count 29 (that 45 includes Deja Vu's, Invertigo's, and relocations.)

My two favorite coasters are named Superman.

SLC's are among the worst roller coasters in the world. I can't stand to ride them, and I can't believe they are even deemed safe because of all the head trauma they cause.

Not all of them, some of them are superb like Tramitizer, Eraser, Batman:The Ride, Hangman, Vampire, and Kong.

The only one I've been on is ME at SFDL and it is HORRIBLE. Head banging is the problem so it is not enjoyable and all. BUT I do like boomerangs ALOT, they are smoother and funner and the backwards part is awesome even if their are a 100 of them

i don't feel like putting anything here

Also, RCDB doesn't list all the SLCs in Japan, so neither 29 or 45 are the perfect number. If you want to see the crazyiest SLCs, then go to Japan. Not only will you find weird color combos and locations, but one of their SLCs had a lift hill ensclosed in glass(kind of like the elabric station in RCT with the tileded glass stations.

Here are the some of the ones you'll find in Japan:

Nio

Blackout Definantely the best SLC to date

So if these are in Japan...why did they name it an American name? I don't get that. Anybody have a clue?

Most coasters in Japan are named American. Steel Dragon 2000. It is just the way they do it for some odd reason. It isn't just vekoma slc's.

Wouldn't a slc in Japan be a Meisho Slc? Meisho is the Japanese distributor of Vekoma right? In the past Meisho has "taken credit" for Vekoma's Japanese coasters, but with current issues with Japanese slcs (Blackout's bogie situation) I really wonder why Meisho would even want to be associated with Vekoma.

Most of their names aren't in American, we just translate them.

I've ridden several - all in the U.S....:(. There is a huge variation in my experience based on age and maintenance. Hangman at Wild Adventures is wonderfully smooth. But the one cheap, easy solution to the whole head-banging issue (on the "rougher" models) is to use the soft fluffy padding I've seen on a couple installations. May not FIX the bumpiness, but sure makes the ride a WHOLE lot better...CHEAPLY!
Hey Vertigo, would you mind listing what parks those coasters are at? And since RCDB doesn't list all of them, why not contribute?

It all goes down to whether or not Meisho actually had anything to do with the construction of them or not. Meisho aren't Vekoma's Japanese distributor. They are an independant company that has build rides with companies like Senyo, Schwarzkopf, Arrow and of course, Vekoma.

Yes, I believe they have been responsible for some Vekoma SLC's, but not all of them.

As for the person said the SLCs are unsafe due to the roughness of them. Believe me, when I say that there are much rougher coasters out there than these. Its one thing to get your head thrown around a bit because you aren't riding in best position you could be in.

But believe me it is another to, actually be able to feel your eyeballs vibrating due to the roughness of a coaster. To brown out in the loops almost every time because of the extreme forces combined with this perpetual roughness. To have a violent throbbing headache before the first drop is even over!

Incidently enough, that coaster I just described above is a Meisho coaster, in Australia. It shouldn't be too hard to guess which one, it is the one I rant on about every other post.

-----------------
So what if the best coaster in Australia is a second hand Arrow?

Every SLC I have been on has had the same kind of padding--which ones have this "fluffy" padding? Sounds like it would make the ride quite a bit better, although I have enjoyed all 3 of the SLC's I have been on so far (I know, I am crazy!)
If only SLC's had the Vekoma Flying Coaster OTSR's ... No headbanging on an SLC would make one sweet*****coaster!

Vertigo....funny you mention Blackout. That is by far the best SLC I have ever ridden. I couldn't agree more.

For those of you that wanted to know, Blackout is at Suzuka Circuit in Suzuka Japan, just south of Nagoya in the Mie prefecture. They also have a great Premier there called Mad Cobra, which uses a very different restraint. I have pics, if you want to see them. I also submitted some of my pics of those coasters, as well as other Japanese coasters to a site of a friend called rollercoasterfans. Check it out.
