Vegas coaster operating hours

Den, listen to The Complex, and then decide if you still want to skip the show ;) Friends who saw it in DC tell me it was the best "rock concert" they've ever been to.

$12 per ride? For a TOGO? Yikes! And people say $28 is expensive for a Kennywood Ride-All-Day!

I'm probably in the minority, but really thought it wasn't bad at all. In fact I'd dare say it was good. I might even go as far as saying it was my favorite in Vegas. Then again, I really didn't have a favorite per se. Each Vegas coaster had it's own merits.

Manhattan Express - Over all the most "complete" feeling of the coasters.

Speed - Cool launch and dive but other than that not much to the layout.

Canyon Blaster - A small indoor Arrow looper. Compared to all the coasters in the world, it's not much of a standout. Taken for what it is (a small, indoor Arrow Looper) it really delivers.

High Roller - Not much in terms of ride, but the location alone makes for great intimidation factor. Ride with someone who's really terrified to be up there and it's a blast.

I honestly didn't feel ripped off by any of the prices. It's Las Vegas, it's just how it is.

Dorney Park Visits in 2003: 7

The Treasure Island show is indeed closed and will not re-open until October. The resort is being renamed "TI" and even the cool skull-and-crossbones marquee will be replaced. They (the MGM-Mirage Group) wants to make the resort more appealing to young-adults... hence the half-naked pirate show coming soon. There is also a topless Cirque Du Soleil show coming later this year to the New York New York Hotel and Casino called "Zumanity".

And there are some great places for 24-hour food... all of which are located downtown: the Golden Gate Hotel and Casino has the Bay City Diner which is in my opinion the best diner downtown. great prices and very good food. The breakfasts are absolutely fantastic. The Golden Nugget also has a good 24-hour coffee shop called Carson Sreet Cafe that serves up pretty decent food. But I'm assuming you'll be staying on the Strip and not in dingy old downtown! Not sure where the good 24-hour places are there... I'm a low roller and love staying downtown. Cheap rooms, 10 casinos within a 5 block walk, and cool light and sound shows each night.

The Blue Man group is coming to Ohio on around July 18-22 and they will perform in Cleveland and Columbus. This is one of the best shows I have ever seen. It is phenomenal. Tickets can be purchased very cheaply (about $5 on ebay, regular price around $30) if you shop around and bid carefully. I heard the one in Vegas is the best of them all, as I saw the one in Chicago.

Yeah, we're staying at the Imperial Palace dead center of the strip. We won't have a lot of time there, but we'll at least get a feel for the place and some idea about where to go next time.

My biggest gripe about ME was, well it had potential but just didn't deliver. The first drop bottoms out well above ground, the second drop is pretty yawnable. The loop is, well....a loop, the twist and dive feels a lot like Viper GAdv.'s which isn't all that exciting and often painful, and the rest of the layout is just a couple of hills and turns that don't deliver any air or intensity, but just deliver head banging. Neat idea, bad execution.

Well, the new TI show, while it will be risque, it will not be half naked.

Jeff- I have not ever stayed at the Imperial Palace, but they do have a 24-Hour coffee shop called the "Tea House" that is surprisingly decent. Their prime rib "sandwich" is actually pretty good.

Enjoy your trip...

Greg, I probably just had the dates mixed up... BMG must be in July. I thought it was all the same, though. So the touring group is more of a rock show? What are the fixed ones like? A couple friends saw the show in Vegas and loved it... I wonder if they'll be dissapointed in the touring show.

I should probably mention something about coasters in this post.

Oh, I know. Isn't Desperado in Vegas, too?
