Vancouver Playland Coaster staying put(for now)

I tried to post this in the news, but here goes.Due to changes in the Pacific National Exhibition(PNE)management and the BC provincial government, the PNE/Playland will be staying put for at least 2 more years. The PNE is currently negotiating with the city of Vancouver to remain permanently at their current location. The Coaster at the PNE has been endangered because of the probability that the park would have to move from this site. This means we have at least a couple more years to get our rides on Coaster.I got this information from the PNE media relations director. For more information on the PNE,go to www.pne.bc.ca.

Alright! That's good to hear. I should be headed on up to VC sometime soon then. The Coaster definitely ranks up there are one the west coast's best rides. Along with the Giant Dipper at SCBB, I'd say it is my favorite classic woodie.
Thanks for the info, this is definitely great news! The only time I've ever been to Vancouver was off season, and all I could do was look at Coaster and salivate! Haven't had the opportunity to return, and was totally bummed to hear every year may be it's last. With at least 2 more years, I should be able to find a way back up there soon. This is definitely a must do coaster for me since I love woodies and have heard nothing but rave reviews about it.

This is good news. I just wonder if the park ever will move. I remember that the reason for ACE's 1996 Preservation Con event was because that was supposed to be the coasters last season! Now it looks like it's got through '04 at least? I had planned for a trip up there anyway this year the weekend of the Silverwood event. I'm glad we're going, because it really is an awesome ride!

Ron.... 2 words.... April 27th! It is a thrill to see that this amazing, one of a kind coaster is going to remain with us for a few more years (at least). Now, we just need to get your wife on it!
