Vampire to stay at Chessington

First Drop magazine (published by the European Coaster Club) reports that the Vampire roller coaster at Chessington World of Adventures in Surrey, England, will not be demolished, but merely closed for the 2001 season for major repairs.

I can confirm this more for you, It was confirmed at the ECC trip to Chessie on 24th February as well. Apparently Vekoma will be involved in doing all or most of the work to the coaster, apparently the coaster will receive New Trains, New Track and a New Control system + other small improvements to the coaster, all this will happen in the 2001 season and will definatly re-open in 2002. As you can guess, 2002 will be a big year for the Tussards Parks.

Vampire fully revamped and reopened in 2002(Chessington)

Atlantis at Thorpe opens, the first 10 inversion coaster(Thorpe Park)

SW5 opens at Alton, B&M's version of a flying coaster(Alton Towers)

WHEW! So what exactly was wrong with this one??? Funny how Arrow suspendeds of the Dracula family don't live long!

An unnerving stillness in the woods of southern Indiana beckons for you on May 11th.....
Why are non-Arrow companies doing all the rehabs? First Morgan is "rebuilding" Steel Phantom and now Vekoma is going to "rebuild" Vampire?

Well, Vekoma is licensed to use Arrow track and trains for their designs. So it makes sense they're rebuilding Vampire. I would say Arrow are too busy with their 4D concept to repair their old coasters. There is a rumor that two more 4Ds are in the works.

Will the track design for Vampire be totally re-routed? After ll, they have blocked off the entire ride and is pathway underneath it. Could it be possible that the vampire will be given a new leash of life with some inversions, making it Chessingtons only looping coaster.

-Quick note, the clown coaster is no longer at Chessington, it has been replaced by a small kiddies drop ride. Leaving Chessington with 4 coasters.
Sorry, 3 coasters.
